WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. officials have considered negotiating a unilateral deal with Palestinian Hamas militants to release five American hostages held in Gaza if ceasefire talks involving Israel fail, NBC News reported on Monday. Officials are hoping to recover the bodies of three other Americans who were killed that day, NBC reported. Asked about the report, Israeli government spokesperson David Mencer told reporters that all countries should do whatever they can to get hostages out. And like other service providers, universities have begun outsourcing some of their “services”. That is particularly true of foundation and pre-master’s programmes, which are increasingly being offered in close collaboration with for-profit private providers. The proliferation of such preparatory courses has the potential to broaden access to higher education while shoring up universities’ emptying coffers. Private providers may struggle to replicate this ingrained quality assurance owing to a potentially less established academic culture. Those allegations prompted the QAA’s current review of academic standards on international foundation programmes.

After two-and-a-half weeks of waiting, United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team have decided to back Ten Hag and keep faith with the Dutchman. United looked at alternatives to Ten Hag, with England boss Gareth Southgate, Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino and Roberto De Zerbi all considered as potential successors. Ten Hag, who has one year left on his current contract, saved himself by steering United to a stunning FA Cup final win over local rivals Manchester City last month. But with several key players back from injury, the beleaguered United boss masterminded a stunning 2-1 win over Pep Guardiola's all-conquering side to a stunning and shock victory. We replaced our AC central unit a couple of years ago and went 1 ton up on it’s capacity. The upright fans cool it off enough out there where it is tolerable to sit out there for a bit. “What happens is that dilates the blood vessels in your skin, which helps the body dissipate heat, which allows your body to cool off, to fall asleep..Hydrate….Hydrate...Hydrate. I suggest if you do not have AC in your house… You can buy a small portable ( not window) AC and place it in a room and it helps a lot. I know my grandmother and Mother used a pressure cooker a lot in the summer and did not fire up the oven.

The world's oldest book in a private collection, and one of the earliest books in existence, sold at auction in London on Tuesday for more than £3 million. The Crosby-Schoyen Codex was previously owned by the Norwegian businessman and rare book collector Martin Schoyen, and contains the earliest complete copies of two texts from the Bible -- the book of Jonah and Peter's first epistle. Bidding for the text at Christie's auction house started at £1.7 million for a mix of enthusiastic online and in-person bidders. That surpassed the $30.8 million that Microsoft founder Bill Gates paid in 1994 for Leonardo da Vinci's Codex Leicester manuscript. The most expensive historical document remains one of the first prints of the US Constitution, which Sotheby's sold for $43 million in November 2021.str/phz/js

"I'm not blind to the fact that people are frustrated with our party and frustrated with me," he said at the launch of the Conservatives' manifesto, setting out its future policy pledges. "Things have not always been easy, and we have not got everything right, but we are the only party in this election with the big ideas to make our country a better place to live. "This is a recipe for five more years of Tory chaos, which will leave the British people paying the price," said Labour's would-be finance minister Rachel Reeves.Paul Johnson, director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies, described the tax cuts as "giveaways paid for by uncertain, unspecific and apparently victimless savings. ""Forgive a degree of scepticism," he said.As part of the pledges, Sunak said he would help the self-employed by abolishing their main National Insurance rate by the end of the next parliament, a possible boost to 4.3 million people who make up around 13% of all employment. But so far, Sunak's message has failed to dent the Labour lead. Some polls show many voters want change and greater investment in public services rather than tax cuts, which they have yet to feel the benefit from.Others are still grappling with the fallout from Truss's chaotic tenure. The Conservatives also now face a challenge from the right-wing Reform UK party, which, under the leadership of Brexit campaigner Nigel Farage, has vowed to lead a "revolt" against the Conservatives.Labour will launch its manifesto on Thursday.

Nevertheless, the 2010 “Strategic Concept” made no mention whatsoever of China (NATO 2010). Greater investment and attention on the part of NATO members should be more of a stabilizing force. Nevertheless, they are wary of any steps undertaken by NATO members in their own region that could be provocative and escalatory. To avoid misunderstandings, NATO members and the AP4 should consider their expectations in the event of such a contingency. For various reasons, the idea of the office – originally proposed in Tokyo – was rejected by NATO members at the last NATO Summit.
