Rafael Nadal and Roland-Garros – it’s perhaps one of the greatest tennis love stories of all time. A record 14 victories have come his way on the clay courts of Paris and fans have flocked to see him each time, watching as he went from a fired-up long-haired teenager to a 38-year-old hamstrung by injury. Rafa, with his quirks and tics and rituals, his astonishing athleticism and his blistering forehand, became a favourite and his appearance at the French Open this year was eagerly anticipated.
