The government calls for investigation and accountability for border killingsThe Bangladeshi government has protested against the killing of a man by the Border Security Force, or BSF, at the Comilla border. A letter of protest was sent to the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Wednesday, according to a press release from the foreign ministry. “Bangladesh expressed deep concern in the letter of protest, mentioning that despite repeated promises from the relevant authorities to reduce border killings to ‘zero’, such incidents continue to occur by the BSF," according to the statement. The government emphasised that these border killings are ‘unwanted and uncalled for’ and violate the joint guidelines established between the border authorities of India and Bangladesh in 1975. “Bangladesh calls on the Indian government to stop the recurrence of such heinous acts and to investigate all border killings, identify those responsible, and bring them to justice,” the statement said.
