The Director-General of the State Intelligence Service Major General Suresh Salley filed a complaint with the CID on the 25th of October 2021 against multiple statements made in reference to him, with regard to the 2019 Easter Attacks, by Reverend Father Cyril Gamini Fernando, at an online forum on the 23rd of October 2021. Whereas, Fr Cyril Gamani filed a Fundamental Rights application at the Supreme Court seeking an order to prevent any attempt being made by the CID to arrest him.

Naval and fishing communities are advised not to venture the South-East Bay of Bengal sea area (04-08N and 86-92E) from tomorrow (08) evening, until further notice. Since there can be very heavy showers or thundershowers associated with strong winds up to 60-70 kmph over the aforementioned sea area. The main Opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) last weekend held a residential workshop for its parliamentary group at a hotel in Kalutara. Around 40 SJB MPs attended the workshop, and the absence of several senior SJB MPs had been criticised by several MPs who had attended the meetings. Several topics were discussed during the workshop. Further, a decision was taken to hold discussions with all small political parties to muster their support for the programme to formulate an alternative government. It was finally decided that workshops for the parliamentary group would be held once in two months in order to ensure that all SJB MPs were aware of the party’s path and were in line with them.
