NEW DELHI - Narendra Modi said on Friday that President Droupadi Murmu had invited him to form a government, as he promised his new coalition of 15 parties would strive for unanimity and emerge successful. Modi’s comments came after he met Murmu and accepted her invitation to head the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) coalition government. The new government would, among others, focus on raising savings of the middle class and improve the quality of their lives as the “middle class is the driving force of the country”, Modi added. A security setup similar to that used for the G20 summit will be implemented for the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi as India’s prime minister scheduled for June 9, India media reported Friday. Ground-to-air surveillance will be coordinated with intelligence agencies and the armed forces to ensure central Delhi’s security.

Seoul - Workers at tech giant Samsung Electronics in South Korea staged the first strike at the company on Friday, the head of a major union representing tens of thousands of people told AFP. Samsung Electronics is one of the world’s largest smartphone makers and also one of the only companies globally to produce high-end memory chips used for generative AI, including top-of-the-line AI hardware from industry leaders such as Nvidia. “The first strike at Samsung Electronics is taking place today through the use of paid leave, and it is understood that many employees are participating,” Son Woo-mok, head of the National Samsung Electronics Union said. Samsung Electronics said it has been “diligently engaging in negotiations with the union and will continue to do so”. The strike in South Korea is the first walkout by the tech giant’s workers.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the new tools in a video which was exhibited during the event. The new AI tools will use behavior on Facebook and Instagram to target the messages to those customers most likely to be receptive to them, provided the customers use the same opted-in phone number across accounts. WhatsApp's head of strategic markets Guilherme Horn told Reuters that these AI tools would give business the possibility to optimize ad delivery to users most likely to engage. It also announced it's adding Brazil's instantaneous digital payment method PIX, once seen as a potential competitor, to its WhatsApp payment tool in the country. WhatsApp similarly started offering payment services from rival providers in India last year.

If there are concerns around the misuse of the court pulpit for fueling populist sentiment, what are the exact parameters on which the decision to livestream or not will rest? Empowering the public means letting go of absolute power and creating systems that protect against over-accumulation of power. The implementation of the livestreaming policy remains uncertain for now. The Court must, therefore, define under what circumstances proceedings can be livestreamed and under which they can be restricted.
