Profit after tax climbed to £5.7 billion ($7.8 billion) compared with profit of £2.6 billion in 2024, GSK said in a statement. “GSK delivered another strong performance in 2025, driven mainly by Speciality Medicines,” said chief executive Luke Miels, who took over from Emma Walmsley at the start of the year. GSK forecasts a low double-digit increase in revenue for its speciality medicines this year, but it expects revenue from vaccines and general medicines to decline. GSK, along with several other pharmaceutical giants, agreed in December to lower the cost of its prescription medicines for American patients, in exchange for tariff exemptions for three years. The United States accounted for more than half of GSK’s total revenues last year.

The question to ask is who holds the aces in Kaduna 2027- Governor Uba, el-Rufai, or Makarfi? Going by contemporary developments, Governor Uba Sani appears to have the upper hand among the trio. But today, I have shifted my ground; about 95 percent of the total votes in Kaduna State will go to APC in 2027,” Governor Sani said. One factor that is working for Governor Sani is the Kaduna peace model, which has won him many followers, because it has brought relative peace to and around the Kaduna metropolis.

Lawmakers say the session, titled “Defending Religious Freedom Around the World,” will assess growing threats to freedom of belief across several regions, with Nigeria drawing particular attention. He further expressed concern about foreign influence in Nigeria’s security environment, arguing that involvement by external powers could worsen instability if not carefully managed. He also criticised the United States for failing to fully implement the International Religious Freedom Act, saying Washington’s actions have not matched its rhetoric. He warned that selective advocacy focused on a single faith undermines the universality of religious freedom protections under international law. The renewed scrutiny by the US Congress panels follows Nigeria’s redesignation by the US as a Country of Particular Concern over alleged violations of religious freedom, a move that heightened diplomatic tension.

Nigeria’s first Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC), Mirabel Centre, has said that 10,000 survivors of sexual violence have sought and received support at the Centre since its establishment in 2013. According to the Centre, the milestone highlights both the trust survivors place in SARC and the scale of sexual and gender-based violence in Nigeria. It stated that many survivors face stigma, fear, limited access to services, and weak justice outcomes, leaving countless cases unreported. Founder of Mirabel Centre, Eze-Anaba, said: “It tells us that survivors trust us. But it also reminds us of the scale of sexual violence in our society and how much more work remains.”“Reaching 10,000 survivors is both a moment of impact and a moment of reflection.”The Centre, therefore, called on government, healthcare providers, law enforcement, the private sector, and communities to treat sexual violence as a national emergency and prioritise survivor-centred responses.

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has described the purported defection of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to the All Progressives Congress APC as false and unfounded. The group insisted that there was no time the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 general elections attempted to negotiate his way back to the APC. In a statement by its spokesperson, Dr Habibu Sale Mohammed, the movement insisted that “never at any time did Kwankwaso enter into negotiations, discussions, or meetings with the APC, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, or any proxy for the purpose of defection.”The speculation of the possible return of Kwankwaso to the ruling party followed the realignment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf with the APC and the subsequent mass resignation of key Kwankwasiyya personalities from the NNPP. The spokesperson, who queried the veracity of the alleged defection, urged the public to be wary of misleading stories, capable of misrepresenting the interest of the movement. He explained that the last formal meeting between Kwankwaso and President Tinubu took place in January 2024: “There was no discussion whatsoever that took place at that meeting regarding defection, political bargaining, or party alignment.”Mohammed stated that claims that Kwankwaso made high demands or overreached himself were fabrications and imaginary.

Instead of engaging the economic logic of these reforms, opposition politicians have focused almost exclusively on their social consequences, weaponising hardship as a political tool. Many of the loudest critics of Tinubu’s reforms once supported similar policies or implemented harsher versions at the state level. While some of these narratives are exaggerated or manipulated, Northern resentment toward Tinubu’s policies is not entirely manufactured. However, the Yoruba Ronu Leadership Forum argued that the APC would struggle to campaign on Tinubu’s reforms, citing rising poverty. Writer Tunde Temionu urged critics to offer alternatives rather than simply oppose Tinubu’s reforms.

Efforts by SpaceX and Ukrainian authorities to stop Russia from using Starlink terminals to guide attack drones in Ukraine are showing results, Ukraine’s defense minister Mykhailo Fedorov said on Sunday, as the war continues and concerns grow over the misuse of the satellite internet system. Fedorov said Ukraine has been working with Elon Musk’s SpaceX, which owns Starlink, to block Russian forces from using the service for military operations. Fedorov continued, “In the coming days, we will share instructions for Ukrainian users to register their Starlink terminals for verification.
