Borrowers should brace for another cost-of-living blow on Wednesday when the Reserve Bank issues its final monetary policy statement for the year, if economists’ forecasts are on the mark. The Reserve Bank will also publish its first new forecasts since August on where it sees the official cash rate, inflation and unemployment heading over the next three years. ROBERT KITCHIN/Stuff Reserve Bank governor Adrian Orr and the rest of the bank’s monetary policy committee have a tough call to make this week. But it said if there was to be a surprise on Wednesday, “a 50bp hike is more likely than 100bp”. But Toplis said the Reserve Bank would not want to appear to be going soft on inflation.

Ahead of the contest, New Zealand batter Glenn Phillips has expressed his admiration towards India’s Suryakumar Yadav and also added that he cannot dream of doing things that the Mumbaikar has been doing on the field. He also had an amazing T20 World Cup 2022, amassing 239 runs in 6 matches with three half-centuries at a stunning strike rate of 189.69. Phillips, who himself made 201 runs with one ton and one fifty in the recently-concluded tournament, is in awe of Suryakumar’s audacious strokeplay. The things that he does I wouldn’t even dream of doing. Phillips also predicted that on good batting tracks like Bay Oval (Mt Maunganui) and McLean Park (Napier), Suryakumar’s strike rate would be even higher than it was on Australian pitches.

With the Reserve Bank (RBNZ) expected to increase the Official Cash Rate (OCR) by up to 75 basis points on Wednesday it's worth noting something significant. In contrast, the OCR has certainly been lowered by more, much more, than 50 basis points. That's 325 basis points of increases so far since the beginning of this 'tightening cycle', with 275 basis points coming in 2022 so far. That's already a record amount in one calendar year, with 50 basis points increases in each of April, May, July, August and October, and 25 basis points in February. But a 75 basis points OCR increase, should it happen on Wednesday, November 23, would be unprecedented.
