Images were posted on social media and the website of the Rotary Club of St Johns of a group of men surrounding the toilet seat with the offending caricature seemingly stuck to the lid. Gannin Ormsby, Nanaia Mahuta's husband, alleged DoC staff members were politically motivated in terminating the contract. It also dismissed Ormsby’s allegation that several DoC staff members who dealt with the Herald were politically motivated in their actions. There were no conflicts of interest related to the DoC contract; Mahuta has never held ministerial responsibility for the department. The PSC’s remit did not extend to the conduct of either politicians or KAS staff or directors. The Department of Conservation dismissed Ormsby’s allegation that several DoC staff members who dealt with the Herald were politically motivated in their actions.

The NZ Herald is partnering with The Warehouse Group to take on the interactivity of digital live streaming and e-commerce shopping. The Selection Live Shopping will be a new channel that will take on live shopping events every Tuesday and will be hosted on the NZ Herald website. NZME, owner of NZ Herald will be the first company to test out live shopping in New Zealand after 2022 saw the form of shopping take off in other parts of the world. “The Selection Live Shopping is built off this idea and we’ll be testing a series of captivating and dynamic live events to help NZ Herald readers to find their next favourite purchase.”Luey adds that The Selection Live Shopping channel will be convenient for avid online shoppers who miss out on the in-store experiences such as interacting with a salesperson. The first live shopping event will take place on Tuesday, May 9 at 12.30pm.

A raft of trucks and other vehicles have been repossessed from Titan Bulk Haulage following its failure to remedy defaults under the mortgages. The Mosgiel trucking company is a subsidiary company of Burns Group 2018 Ltd, whose director is Otago businessman Malcolm Burns. Notices of entry into possession of mortgaged goods were filed by Kiwi Asset Finance Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kiwibank, against Titan Bulk Haulage in March and April. Another similar notice was filed by Kiwi Asset Finance against Titan Bulk Haulage and Otago Excavation — which is in receivership and liquidation and is another subsidiary company of Burns Group 2018 Ltd — in June 2021. In August that year, Kiwi Asset Finance withdrew as a mortgagee in possession from the collateral with regards to Titan Bulk Haulage.

Dr Clark spent 11 years studying at the university and was the Selwyn College warden from 2008 to 2011. ‘‘Reconnecting with the University of Otago feels very much like a homecoming,’’ he said. Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Helen Nicholson said she was pleased to have Dr Clark’s ‘‘wealth of experience’’ joining the university in the ‘‘pivotal’’ role. Prof Nicholson acknowledged Mr Trott was joining Otago during ‘‘a difficult financial period’’, and believed he was bringing a wealth of experience to the role which would ‘‘fare us well’’.
