ISTANBUL (Reuters) - Ankara and Cairo will cooperate more closely regarding Libya, where they back opposing sides, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Thursday, marking another step in the rapprochement between the two regional powers. Cavusoglu's comments come as the two countries work to mend ties after being at odds for a decade, having cut diplomatic links following the overthrow of Egypt's then president and Ankara ally Mohamed Mursi. This month 20 years ago — March 20, to be precise — the West attacked Iraq, accusing it of having Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs) which later turned out to be nothing but a pack of lies. Bush, Blair and others involved in the destruction of Iraq, Libya, Syria and Palestine need to be held accountable for the death of thousands of Arab Muslims.

The Libyan Internal Security Agency says police have detained a US citizen for inviting to convert to Christianity. The American was arrested for "inciting our children to renounce Islam and convert to Christianity," the agency said in a statement on Thursday. Assemblies of God is a missionary organization based in the state of Arkansas. The arrest came a day after another American citizen in Tripoli was detained on a similar ground. In recent years, Libyans say many missionaries are working under disguise of aid agencies but distributing Christian literature.

We evacuated almost 4,000 stranded Nigerians from Libya in 2022 and we hope to surpass that number this year,” Musa said.
