Paynesville – Five robbers were early Thursday morning gunned down by officers of the Anti-Robbery Unit of the Liberia National Police while in an arm robbery attempt at the Fresh Frozen Food Liberia cold storage in the Redlight Market. Police Inspector General Col. Patrick Sudue said a huge sum of money was discovered in a rice bag at the scene. Two of the robbers who earlier opened fire escaped when police arrived at the scene along with a vehicle that parked there, Police Inspector General told reporters Thursday. Inspector Sudue, however, confirmed the two single barrels and a bag filled with Liberian Dollars, but did not mention seeing an AK47. Meanwhile, Inspector Sudue is calling for more support to enable the police effectively carryout it’s operations in combating crimes across the country.

Monrovia – Mr. David Malpass, President of the World Bank Group says the bank is heavily supportive of private sector development in Liberia. Said Malpass: “We’re strongly supporting the details of private sector development. In that spirit, the World Bank this week launched a comprehensive online portal that provides easy access to information about our projects, including individual country-financing operations. Mr. Malpass said debt sustainability and transparency will also be vital in attracting new financing and investment. This new World Bank financing, Malpass said, would build on an already strong country program.

Liberia: TipMe, My Watchman Sign Agreement for Customers to Pay for their Emergency Response Service Using E-money SystemMonrovia – TipMe, an electronic payment service provider, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with My Watchman, a new mobile app with 24 hours secured monitoring and emergency dispatch command center. The My Watchman app is a registered trademark of Advanced Converged Technologies LLC (ACT), a technology company with regional offices in Liberia. The partnership will allow individuals who have downloaded the My Watchman app, pay for the emergency services using TipMe electronic platform. According to the Ministry, during the height of the outbreak, the leadership of that country offered to share with Liberia, with no cost some quantities of the Madagascar herbs. Didn’t we see nine votes with Senator Wesseh, and ten with Senator Naatehn; what made you think that I would have gotten nineteen, and when there were already prior discussions?” Senator Zargo intimated.

However, in a statement issued on Tuesday, the Civil Society Council said the comments made by the Muslim leaders undermine national security and further have the propensity to ignite instability in the Mano River Union (MRU) Sub-region. It called on the Muslim Community through the Inter Religious Council of Liberia to engage relevant stakeholders and build a national case supported by all religious and traditional segments of the population. “Let us maintain the peace, respect the rule of law, uphold religious harmony and stay away from radicalization,” it urged.

Monrovia – Aurelius Butter, the National Coordinator for the Liberia Social Safety Nets Project at the Ministry of Gender Children and Social Protection says he is optimistic that the Social Cash Transfer Program will benefit families who have been hit seriously by the impact of COVID-19. The Social Cash Transfer Program is being sponsored by UKaid. The National Coordinator for the Liberia Social Safety Nets Project said the original estimate for the project was USD$3.5 million. The Social Cash Transfer Program he added is currently operating in Maryland and Grand Kru and Bomi Counties with a plan to move onto River Gee County. Also, “Give Directly” is an International Non-governmental Organization that is responsible to deliver the cash transfer.

MONROVIA — Progress is being made on a new state-of-the-art clinic in the Thinker Village community being constructed by a Liberian residing in the United States of America, Miss Patricia Verdier. ‘’I want to build a clinic to help my country, my community, and the people that made me who I’m today. Valued at over $300, 000, the eighteen-bedroom clinic, according to Miss Verdier, will help address the needs of the community and surrounding areas and create jobs for Liberians. Miss Verdier said the clinic when completed will serve a community of over 5,000 people, of which one-third are children. Verdier complete the clinic, adding that when completed it would save the life of many Liberians.

The German investment company made a declaration on Thursday to reactivate the “Doctors to Liberia” program in order to contribute to the development of a resilient health sector in the country as part of its social responsibility. “The company will also bring doctors from Germany to Liberia and take over the costs for the doctors, the drugs and the sick,” said the declaration, signed by Richie Engl, CEO and Jürgen Bertram. “The aim is to bring many investors to Liberia who will invest in all areas of the economy. The company also announced that gold mining will be the pilot project in Liberia and additional gold and diamond mining projects are planned.

Carina Van Wyk, head of Education and Training of Africa Check says it is important for journalist to engage in fact-checking before disseminating information to the public. The training enables the Liberian journalists to uunderstand the different types of false information and the dangers of it spreading. MenjorFresh Frozen Food Store, a cold storage located in the commercial hub of Red Light, attracted hundreds of onlookers on May 20, 2021 when authorities of the Liberian National Police (LNP) narrated the horrific encounter they had with five armed men which, they said, were armed robbers. The Police boss at the same time displayed a video footage in which one of the alleged armed robbers was seen in full Police uniform in upper Caldwell making an attempt to break into a facility said to be hosting Chinese nationals involved in the sale of sand. A travelling bag filled with Liberian Dollar banknotes was opened by Sudue, identifying the money as some of what the deceased armed robbers wanted to have made away with. Other items found and reported to the media were two single barrel guns and pistols with ammunition beside the corpses of the alleged armed robbers. “We need more support so we can be more vigilant,” Sudue stressed, adding that one of his officers is nursing a bullet wound sustained from one of the alleged armed robbers a few weeks ago.
