Monrovia – The Government of Liberia, through its Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, has entered into an agreement with SnooCODE Limited to provide Liberia with a National Postal Digital Addressing System (NPDAS). SnooCODE Limited is a UK-registered and Ghana-based technology company contracted to develop Liberia’s digital addressing system. Today, the SnooCODE app is available for free download on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Plans are also underway to develop a custom integrated solution for Liberia based on the SnooCODE digital addressing technology, and many Liberian companies and individuals will be given several opportunities to participate in these developments. This custom-built solution will power a wide range of industries, including Banking, eCommerce, Delivery Services, Emergency Services, Public Health, Sanitation, and Emerging Technologies like Drones.

Another Liberian woman has been guilty by the 16th Judicial Circuit Court in Gbarpolu County a 72 year old woman , Madame Elizabeth McCree for human trafficking and sentenced to six years in prison. This brings to six the number of successfully prosecuted Human trafficking cases by government over the last few months within the current term of court which comes to an end next week. She asked for and was granted a separate trial while Mr. Sumo was tried , found guilty and sentenced for six years. According to the Women’s Land Rights Act, all community members including women have a right to own land. Authorities have intervened and are in discussions with the family so that they give Ms. Johnson her house back. Empowering women also means empowering men to be champions for women rights as seen in this case where male elders also fought for Ms. Johnson’s rights. Ms. Johnson is one of many women in rural Liberia who were forced to leave their homes when theirs husbands died but have been empowered to know more about women’s land rights. Todee, Montserrado County – In a joint effort to strengthen the healthcare delivery system across Liberia, World Hope International (WHI), in collaboration with the Montserrado County Health Team and with medical supplies provided by its partner Korle-Bu Neuroscience Foundation (KBNF), embarked on the distribution of assorted medical drugs and equipment to health facilities across Liberia. Mr. Gonpu said the drugs and medical equipment will help the clinic in rendering needed services to residents of the district. Also speaking to reporters in the district, Esther Saylee expressed gratitude to World Hope International and KBNF for the donation, which meant a lot to the institution and residents of the area. MONROVIA – Mr. Mo Ali Secretary-General of the Unity Party has told hearing officers of the National Elections Commission (NEC) that there was no withdrawal clause in the Framework Document of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) signed by the Unity Party. According to Mr. Ali who took the witness to testify on behalf of his political party, when the UP signed the Framework Document that brought the four collaborating parties together, there was no clause in it for withdrawal. “To the best of the knowledge of UP we were operating under the Framework document of May 19, 2020. The Framework Document before you is not the same filed with the NEC as per the findings of the report and copies of the Framework Document was never severed to constituent parties of the CPP by the chairing ANC,” Mr. Ali said. Gbarplay, Nimba County – Representative Dorwohn Twain Gleekia (District #6, Nimba County) has reached oto dozens of residents that were affected from storm in his constituent town of Gbarplay. In late March, a wave of heavy storms made several people homeless across Nimba County. In Gbarpay, over 27 houses were destroyed as the storm tore roofs of the buildings apart, and causing some to collapse. He told the townspeople that following the news of the storm disaster, he immediately wrote the National Disaster Management Agency and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, informing them about the incident. He thanked Rep. Gleekia for his prompt intervention and called on other district lawmakers whose constituents were affected to respond in such manner.

Monrovia – Judge Kennedy Peabody of the Civil Law Court at the Temple of Justice on Wednesday denied Senator Abraham Darius Dillon’s motion to quash the legal proceedings against him. According to the judge, his request does not apply to the case. Dillon is being tried for “Action of Damage for Wrong for Libel and Slander by Attachment,” filed by Liberty Party Embattled Chairman Musa Hassan Bility. Bility, through his lawsuit, alleged that Senator Dillon called him “a criminal” which he said is an assassination of his character. Meanwhile, for the writ of attachment, the court said it has no legal reason for issuing the Writ of Attachment.

MONROVIA – Renowned international health body The Global Fund has released a damaging report on the Ministry of Health, unearthing alleged acts of corruption amounting to nearly US$1M. The Global Fund is a partnership designed to accelerate the end of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria as epidemics. After OIG’s 2019 Audit of Global Fund Grants in Liberia found that Fiscal Agent oversight was inadequate, a new Fiscal Agent Team Leader was assigned in 2020. However, the Committee’s findings will not impact OIG’s investigation findings or the subsequent actions taken by the Global Fund as a consequence of OIG’s investigation findings”. In its report, the Fiscal Agent Cardno disagreed with OIG’s conclusions regarding conflict of interest on the part of the former Fiscal Agent team.
