Sudan's RSF are war criminals and there can be no peace with them, Sudan's army chief said. Sudan's army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan on Friday vowed to continue a nine-month war between the military and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), rejecting the latest peace efforts. The US has accused both the army and RSF of war crimes, and it says the RSF is also responsible for crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing. Burhan said he would arm Sudanese people who wanted to fight the RSF and urged them to join the military. It was an apparent reference to the United Arab Emirates, which the army accuses of supporting the RSF.

Kenya has officially welcomed tourists under its new visa-free entry system. Visa requirements are now waived for all travellers to Kenya, regardless of nationality. Kenya said Friday it had welcomed the first batch of foreign tourists who arrived under a simplified entry system it hopes will encourage more visitors. Under the new system, travellers apply online for an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) and pay a $30 (R560) "processing" fee. Last year President William Ruto announced that Kenya would become a "visa-free country" and existing requirements would be waived in January.

Disney+ announced today that it will not move forward with a second season of the action-fantasy series American Born Chinese. The decision to cancel the series comes seven months after Disney debuted the eight-episode series on its streaming service, Disney+. Ben Wang, Yeo Yann Yann, Chin Han, Daniel Wu, Jimmy Liu, and Sydney Taylor also star as primary cast members. In addition to being a powerful story about lineage, fitting in, and stereotypes that have left a negative and lasting impact on society, American Born Chinese has become a touchstone release for many of its fans. It’s a shame to hear Disney is canceling American Born Chinese before the story reaches its powerful conclusion.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo says it has had no talks with Israel over housing Palestinian refugees. It is not impossible that those reports confused the Democratic Republic of the Congo with Congo-Brazzaville. The DRC has a long history of dealings with Israel, dating back to the administration of Mobutu Sese Seko in what was then known as Zaire. Israel played a significant role in the military, economic, and political survival of Mobutu's first three decades in office. Israel opened its embassy in the DRC soon after independence in 1960, but the Israeli embassy in Kinshasa was closed in 2003 because of conflict in the country.

Ahead of the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, locals and members of the All Assam Divyanga Versatile Association of the state’s Kamrup district have sent 7000 pieces of bamboo to Ayodhya. A container truck filled with bamboo pieces collected from the Lampi area near Boko to Ayodhya was dispatched on Thursday night. “We were instructed to collect some bamboo and we have collected the bamboo pieces from the Lampi area. We will send these bamboo pieces to Ayodhya and the bamboo-loaded truck will travel 1250 km to reach Ayodhya. All Assam Divyanga Versatile Association has donated these bamboo pieces to use in the inauguration ceremony of the Ram Temple.
