A raid in the Sargent Park neighbourhood Saturday netted Winnipeg police about $28,000 worth of illegal drugs. Police said they raided a home in the 1300 block of Spruce Street during the day. There, they found:- 2,903 grams of benzocaine (estimated street value of $500)- 266 grams of cocaine (estimated street value of $20,000)- 103 ¼-gram pieces of crack cocaine (estimated street value of $2,000)- 70 grams of marijuana (estimated street value of $700)- 158 Percocet pills (estimated street value of $780)- 309 Gabapentin pills (estimated street value $3,100)Police also found digital scales, packaging materials, "contaminated kitchen appliances" and accessories and a money counter. A 35-year-old Winnipeg man faces numerous drug trafficking charges and is also charged with producing cocaine. He is in custody, said police.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has described South Africa's election results as a victory for its democracy, despite his African National Congress (ANC) party losing its majority for the first time. It is the ANC's worst election result since apartheid ended 30 years ago - though it still has by far the most seats. Kenya will save about Ksh 13 billion annually once the 105 MW geothermal power plants start to operate in Menengai, Nakuru by end of 2015. The project run by the Geothermal Development Company (GDC) has now awarded three IPPs land where they will put up power plants. Each of these companies will install a 35 MW power plant at the Menengai Project making a total of 105 MW Net. “We are confident about the Menengai Project that is why we are putting our money into it. Upon completion of the 105 MW, it is projected that the country will save about Kshs 13 billion annually as fuel levy.

President William Ruto on Sunday urged MPs to traverse the country in order for them to discharge their duties better. Speaking at a church service in Kimilili, Bungoma County, Ruto stated that the MPs needed to understand the country first to be able to exercise oversight. Ruto stated that the MPs had three roles including representation, legislation, and oversight of the government. If you have been elected in another place, why are you coming to disrupt other elected MPs? Gachagua had added that the MPs needed to discharge their mandates to those who elected them without being spotted in different regions.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said that he will continue reaching out to all leaders in Mt Kenya for the sake of unity . He noted that the unity of the region is essential as it translates to development . We had counties that had issues but I'm happy that they are now working together in unity," Gachagua said . He also denied allegations that his call for unity will make the region divided and secluded from government development. "Recently, I heard a leader saying that the push for regional unity will make the region secluded from development, that is retrogressive politics," he said.

Gachagua asked leaders to embrace unity and support President Ruto’s plan to transform the country. “On my unity agenda, it is not only for Mount Kenya region but the entire country. “Those saying that calling for unity in Mount Kenya region will lead for isolation, are wrong because unity is good for the country. Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has urged Kenyans not to take for granted the security in the country, saying it is a critical pillar for economic transformation. Mudavadi spoke in Kimilili, Bungoma County when he joined President William Ruto at the interdenominational prayers and thanksgiving. He said Kenyans must be on the fore-front in supporting President Ruto’s peaceinitiatives in Africa. He called on the leaders from the region to take advantage of President Ruto’s leadership and negotiate for key resources for the people of Western Kenya. He termed President Ruto’s visit of Bungoma as a significant move to solidify the support from the region.

"Your job in parliament is representation which is about your constituency and the other two jobs of legislation and oversight are about the nation of Kenya, done in the National Assembly. It is not a village assembly," Ruto noted.
