At 9.15pm, Carlisle Castle will light up a beacon to commemorate 80 years since the D-Day landings. Local people are invited to stand outside the castle for the free event, but are asked to arrive 30 minutes beforehand to ensure that they do not miss the show. Cumberland Council is also supporting the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings this week. In Carlisle, an evensong will be held at Carlisle Cathedral on Thursday 6 June at 5.45pm. Some town councils and parish councils are also commemorating the anniversary.

I'm wandering around Corporation Street, one of easily the most distinctive and beautiful-in-theory corners of town. I'm not sure I really believe in the concept that a place can have bad energy. Perch brunch provides ideal respite from the negative energy and my vibes-o-meter is returned back to net neutral. Corporation Street is absolutely gorgeous in theory, but the ghost of the dread is still haunting me as I head back up to Pigeon Park.

At 12:25pm, a 14-seater matatu approached the direction where the LPG tanker had gotten stuck. The driver and the conductor realised there was danger and quickly alighted, leaving the matatu a few metres next to the tanker. The LPG tanker had exploded and, in the process, destroyed the matatu.
