"Everybody should be proud of your origin and identity, nobody should ever make you feel embarrassed about your origin and identity,'' Gachagua said. Speaking when he addressed the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya International Conference in Mombasa on Wednesday, Gachagua said he will always retreat to the village after work. "I don't want to say a lot, I want to go to Nairobi briefly then I go to the village,'' he said. Defending his dalliance with his Kikuyu language when addressing rallies and meeting his backyard, Gachagua said language is an element of identity.

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has revealed some of the members of a team formed to address grievances raised by former President Uhuru Kenyatta. Uhuru on Monday claimed that he had been denied some of his benefits as stipulated by the Retirement Benefits Acts. Kuria revealed that the team members include Interior CS Kithure Kindiki, him and Police IG Japhet Koome. The Head of Public Service has been tasked with ensuring that complaints related to Uhuru's staff are addressed. "For the purpose of coordinating and standardising the work of the by-election machinery, the meeting decided to appoint Rafizi Ramli and Senator Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir as co-chairmen of the Unity Government’s election machinery main committee," said the statement. The statement also said that the Sungai Bakap state by-election joint operation chairmen representing the Penang Unity Government will be led by Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid and Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir. The Election Commission (EC) set the voting day for the Sungai Bakap state by-election on July 6 with the nomination of candidate and early voting set on June 22 and July 2 respectively. The Sungai Bakap seat fell vacant following the death of its incumbent, Nor Zamri Latiff on May 24 due to a stomach inflammation.

The FBI director Christopher Asher Wray concluded his trip to Kenya Wednesday after a series of meetings with top security officials.
