To compound matters, Ruto appears inconsistent, shifting policy positions in ways that ridicule him and raise doubts about his grasp of national interests. His absolutist attitude, as the Auditor General keeps exposing high-level misuse of public funds, which leads to questions about Ruto’s judgement on national interests. Ruto’s policies and actions raise questions about perceptions on how to safeguard Kenya’s national interests.

Pagan Amum, a former minister in South Sudan and leader of the South Sudan Opposition Movement Alliance (Ssoma), on Thursday joined other opposition groups to make a four-point demand for the talks. Meanwhile, my son’s mother tongue and official language should be Kiswahili, but he seems to be partial to English as it is the common language in our household. Even then, he sounds like a diaspora kid raised in America speaking Kiswahili with a tweng. The official language is German, and he has since started understanding his caregiver who speaks to him in English and German simultaneously. He even surprised us by speaking some German words just six months later!
