Former Chief Justice David Maraga has condemned the alarming revelation that a Sudanese rebel leader is holding a Kenyan passport. The rebel leader is under sanction by the U.S. Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control and the European Union. Magara said the alleged illegal and irregular acquisition of Kenyan travel documents by the man highlights how such actors exploit passports for mobility, financial access, and evasion-turning diplomatic tools into instruments that prolong war and atrocity. To remedy this grave lapse and restore Kenya's diplomatic and constitutional integrity, Maraga urged the government to swiftly revoke the passport and any associated documents. He claimed that Kenya had lost a significant share of the Sudanese tea market due to such developments.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki /FILEA three-judge bench is set to deliver a ruling on March 19, 2026, on an application by petitioner Joseph Aura, who is seeking the removal of Deputy President Kithure Kindiki. The dispute is linked to the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Kinyanjui told the court that the amended petition raises weighty issues of law that justify certification for a five-judge bench. In the amended petition, Aura argues that Kindiki was sworn in as Deputy President outside constitutionally prescribed parameters. In his rejoinder, Kinyanjui clarified that the case was framed solely for certification and forwarding to the Chief Justice for consideration of an expanded bench.

Doctors in Garbatulla sub county hospital in Isiolo county, on November 18, 2024. That’s my roundabout way of saying I hit the road too early for comfort when such nefarious characters abound. Consequently, my first meal of the day came at 11 am, a slow-baked cake that replaced my regular nduma. That’s what the scribes should have focused on, the medic speechified, not on the 18 deaths. So I gently said nobody gets to tell scribes what stories are important and which are not.

[Photo by Mose Sammy/Standard]My favourite fruit vendor, Bethsheba, has been missing in action since kanjo folks rid our streets of hawkers. She had a way of stacking up bright-coloured mangoes so that the setting sun flooded her wares to look even more enticing. Put simply, she turned a wheelbarrow, a simple hunk of metal, into a mobile, artistic installation that fed her family. Come rain, come sunshine, Bethsheba was guaranteed to open her business and wait for customers.

Audio By VocalizeHoma Bay governor Gladys Wanga. Some kanjoras from the county had been de-whipped from various committees at the Homa Bay assembly. Various explanations were offered by three of the four Members of the County Assembly who addressed the media in quite compelling narratives. This is a paraphrase: “We want an interpretation of the law, we want to know if there is a lacuna in law that can be used to discharge us right, left and centre…” he boomed. I feared he might break at the seams from his enormous effort, but all he did was lift his bulky frame on tiptoe, like he’d head-butt someone
