Approximately 7.9 million UK homes are currently under-insulated, but 70 per cent of these could easily be improved with standard loft insulation, it says. Once installed, loft insulation should pay for itself several times over during its 40-year lifetime. If a home has no loft insulation, then installing 270mm of new insulation could save £250 a year on your energy bills. You can buy a 100mm roll of loft insulation for about £23, and 170mm rolls from Wickes or B&Q cost from £24. Bean-Gordon advises me to apply the insulation tape as tightly as possible into the frames.

The DUP is refusing to re-enter a devolved government in Northern Ireland until unionist concerns are addressed. On Tuesday, Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Heaton-Harris indicated the talks with Sir Jeffrey Donaldson’s party were in their “final, final stages”. “Government satisfaction with the limited progress the Windsor Framework has made should not act as a block to seeking further progress to fully deliver our 2019 manifesto commitment and the promises made to Northern Ireland,” Dame Priti said. “No business should face a barrier or restriction to trade between Great Britain and Northern Ireland and more work is needed to achieve this outcome. “Technology, common sense and a dose of good faith should be at the forefront of the solutions needed to remove these barriers and put an end to the tentacles of EU control over Northern Ireland.

Roscommon County Council has refused a planning application to erect 65 houses at Lisnamult, Roscommon. The refusal further outlined that it has not been demonstrated that the additional traffic movements arising from the proposed development would not adversely affect the capacity, safety or operational efficiency of the national road network. The proposed development would, therefore, be contrary to the proper planning and sustainable development of the area. The proposed development, if permitted, would adversely impact on the residential amenity of future residents and the residents of existing Abbeyville housing development. The proposed development would therefore set an undesirable precedent for similar types of development and would be contrary to the proper planning and sustainable development of the area.

Tanaiste Micheal Martin said fiscal challenges for Northern Ireland are growing and a restored Assembly is needed to tackle them. The DUP has been blocking powersharing at Stormont for more than a year and a half in protest at the internal UK trade barriers created by Brexit’s Northern Ireland Protocol. The powersharing institutions in Northern Ireland cannot function without the involvement of the largest unionist party. I could go further and say we are in the final, final stages of this. He said: “I think the people of Northern Ireland deserve that.

Such stories are the bread and butter of The Daily Mail. This is because all arrivals in small boats are considered illegal, and those who orchestrate these arrivals are guilty of trafficking. The Daily Mail had to publish a front-page correction and internally issued disciplinary notes to senior staff. Overall, The Daily Mail articles that claim small boat migrants are terrorists risk crying wolf. The implicit notion is that these small boats are filled with barbarians seeking to destroy Britain.

The Daily Mail has published an apology to Chris Packham and a correction for its inaccurate reporting of Chris’s libel win against Fieldsports Channel Ltd and one of its journalists, Andrew (Ben) O’Rourke. However, the following day the Daily Mail published an inaccurate article that suggested Chris had sued the wrong company and ‘may not see a penny’ of the damages/costs from Fieldsports Channel Ltd. The Daily Mail published its correction and apology in yesterday’s print edition, as follows:An article on November 7 said that, despite his successful libel action against Fieldsports Channel Ltd (FCL), Chris Packham ‘may not see a penny’ because he had sued the wrong company.
