The Residential Tenancies Board says it provides legal assistance in ‘limited cases’ to those seeking enforcementMore than €1.3 million has been spent by the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) in providing legal assistance to landlords and tenants seeking to have its orders enforced over a three-year period. Despite RTB determination orders being legally binding, 1,315 applications for legal assistance have been made since 2022 by those seeking court orders. A further 47 applications for legal assistance were made by Approved Housing Bodies, while 10 third parties, typically neighbours of tenants, also sought support. In total, 968 applications for legal assistance were approved by the RTB across 2022, 2023 and 2024. A total of €322,959 was spent on providing legal assistance in 328 cases in 2022.

Three units of Cork City Fire Brigade performed what was described as “a long and complicated rescue” of a 43-year-old man who had fallen more than 30ft from Rope Walk in Sunday’s Well. Following a two-hour rescue operation in poor weather conditions, the man was brought to Cork University Hospital (CUH), where he was treated for what have been described as serious injuries. Firefighters responded to a call from the National Ambulance Service to assist in the rescue of a man who had been missing for a number of hours after suffering a fall. Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Vitor Pereira on a short-term contract. The former Wolves boss becomes Forest's fourth different manager since the start of the season after agreeing terms on an 18 month deal.
