I visited GloucestershireLive's pub of the year to see if it lives up to the hypeOur readers loved The Cheese Rollers pub last year, so I went to check it out for myselfView 3 Images The Cheese Rollers pub and restaurant in Shurdington, near Cheltenham (Image: GloucestershireLive)The Cheese Rollers pub and restaurant was voted by GloucestershireLive readers as the county's 2025 Pub of the Year. ‌The Cheese Rollers pub is, of course, named after the famous cheese-rolling competition which takes place at Cooper's Hill just three miles away. ‌The pub is hard to miss, thanks to its colourful pale-turquoise frontage, and its prime location along Main Road in Shurdington. The first thing that I am impressed by before I even walk in is the size of the pub garden. My visit may have been brief, and during a quiet time of the day, but the Cheese Rollers is certainly a place I'd come back to.

Cristiano Ronaldo has finally broken his silence on his dramatic Saudi strike. The situation was exacerbated further when Karim Benzema was granted a transfer to Al-Hilal and Ronaldo went on strike for three games. His behaviour led to serious questions over his future in the league - despite his position as the biggest and most marketable name. And that's despite both clubs, as well as Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli, all being majority owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF). 'The Saudi Pro League is structured around a simple principle: every club operates independently under the same rules,' they said.

Ireland came to Twickenham to play and in doing so produced a performance for the ages. The hope travelling to Twickenham was that Ireland would go and play. There were passages of rugby that were as good as any Ireland team has produced. Ireland played without fear, without inhibition, they played from deep in their own half, sure footed and accurate. England were left to rue some missed opportunities: lineouts, missed kicks to touch or one pushed into touch and goal.

Trump loyalist Kevin Hassett described a study from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York as 'an embarrassment'. Photograph: Anna Moneymaker/Getty ImagesKevin Hassett, the White House’s resident tariff optimist, has identified a new threat to the republic: a fairly standard economics paper. The director of the national economic council and Trump loyalist described a new study from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York as “an embarrassment” – indeed, “the worst paper I’ve ever seen in the history of the Federal Reserve system”. The England and Wales Cricket Board have warned Hundred teams disciplinary action will be taken if there is any evidence of discrimination during the player recruitment process. The correspondence followed a leaked WhatsApp message, ironically from a talent scout brought in to increase the competition’s diversity, to a Pakistani agent initimating that there would be no Pakistani players selected by the Indian-owned entities. Last year, even before the Indian money poured in, there was no Pakistani representation until Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim were drafted in by Northern Superchargers as replacements. The Headingley-based franchise also had prolific leg-spinner Adil Rashid - one of multiple England players with Pakistani heritage - in their ranks in 2025. One aspect that will affect Pakistan players being picked is the presence of a Test tour of West Indies in late summer, and players will require No Objection Certificates from the Pakistan Cricket Board for the involvement to be rubberstamped.
