Christopher O'Donnell, Rhasidat Adeleke, Thomas Barr and Sharlene Mawdsley ran a time of 3:09.92. Adeleke then took over, before Barr gave it to Mawdsley with Ireland in second, as she guided Ireland to victory. Ireland came into the championships in form after the World Relays, where they finished in another national record of 3:11.53. Ireland broke the national record with a time of 3:09:92, O’Donnell running 46.09, Adeleke 49.53, Barr 44.90 and Mawdsley 49.40.

Man City’s claim against Premier League rules to be heard over next two weeksBy Jamie Gardner, PA Chief Sports ReporterManchester City’s legal challenge against Premier League financial rules will be heard over the next two weeks, which could have hugely significant consequences for the English top flight. The Premier League champions are challenging the league’s associated party transaction (APT) rules in a hearing starting on Monday which is set to last until June 21st. A successful City challenge to the APT rules could have a big impact on the Premier League. There is also no provision in Section X of the Premier League’s rules, under which this arbitration process is taking place, stating that the outcome of such claims must be made public. Neither City nor the Premier League has made any comment on the matter.

Funding of €113,400 has been allocated for a shared walking and cycling ‘Greenway’ link from the Old Rail Trail in Moate to Dún na Sí. It's one of a number of outdoor recreation projects across the country set to share €16.1 millionIn announcing the investment in outdoor projects, Minister Humphreys said: “Our beautiful outdoors have never been more available to us than today. Taoiseach to chair meeting on Lough Funshinagh crisisTaoiseach Simon Harris has said he will chair a meeting this month in an effort to make progress on resolving the Lough Funshinagh flooding emergency. Speaking on Shannonside radio last week, Mr Harris said he would be actively involved in seeking to resolve the current impasse over flood relief works in the area. Mr Harris's statement that he would be taking a hands-on role in relation to the issue was welcomed by Matthew Beattie of the Lough Funshinagh Flood Crisis Action Group. The Tánaiste, Micheál Martin, also paid a recent visit to Lough Funshinagh, on May 22 last. Speaking to journalists there, the Fianna Fáil leader said legal advice given to the Government, from the Attorney General and from senior counsel, was that the partially-finished flood relief pipeline from Lough Funshinagh would have to secure planning approval before it could be completed.

ISPCA rescues more than 120 birds from 'hoarding situation' in MidlandsAnimal welfare inspectors from the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA) seized a total of 121 birds from what were described as "deplorable conditions" at a location in the Midlands recently. "I have never seen conditions like this before," said ISPCA Inspector Lyndsey Delaney, who headed up the investigation. A kitten at the scene of the "hoarding situation" which led to animal welfare concerns in the Midlands.
