Nagpur News नागपुर स्थित केंद्रीय कपास अनुसंधान संस्थान (सीआईसीआर) ने वर्षों के सतत अनुसंधान के बाद भूरे और हरे रंग के कपास विकसित करने में सफलता हासिल की है। यह उपलब्धि न केवल कृषि क्षेत्र, बल्कि टेक्सटाइल उद्योग और पर्यावरण संरक्षण की दिशा में भी महत्वपूर्ण मानी जा रही है। संस्थान के निदेशक डॉ. विजय वाघमारे ने बताया कि यह प्रयोग कई वर्षों की निरंतर मेहनत का परिणाम है और भविष्य में अन्य रंगों के कपास विकसित करने की भी योजना है।भूरे कपास के दो शेड, हरे पर शोध जारी : वैज्ञानिकों को भूरे रंग के कपास में दो अलग-अलग प्रकार मिले हैं। एक हल्का भूरा और दूसरा गहरा भूरा। हरे रंग के कपास का विकास भी किया गया है, लेकिन उसका रंग अभी स्थिर नहीं हो पाया है। बोंड (कपास की गांठ) फूटने के बाद सूर्य प्रकाश का प्रभाव रंग पर स्पष्ट दिखाई देता है। हरे कपास का रंग धूप में हल्का पड़ जाता है, जबकि भूरे कपास का रंग सूर्यप्रकाश से और अधिक गहरा होता जाता है।25 वर्षों में तैयार हुई ‘वैदेही वन’ किस्म : भूरे रंग का कपास जंगली प्रजातियों के उपयोग से तैयार किया गया है। इसकी ‘वैदेही वन’ नामक किस्म को विकसित करने में लगभग 25 वर्ष लगे। धुलाई के बाद भी इसका रंग फीका नहीं पड़ता, जो इसकी खास विशेषता मानी जा रही है। इसके विपरीत हरे कपास का रंग बोंड खुलते समय गहरा होता है, परंतु धीरे-धीरे हल्का पड़ जाता है। वैज्ञानिक हरे रंग को स्थिर करने पर काम कर रहे हैं।नॉन-हाइब्रिड से किसानों को राहत : अब तक विकसित रंगीन कपास की सभी किस्में सीधी यानी नॉन-हाइब्रिड हैं। इसका अर्थ है कि किसानों को हर साल नया बीज खरीदने की जरूरत नहीं होगी। एक बार बीज लेने के बाद किसान कई वर्षों तक उसी का उपयोग कर सकते हैं और अन्य किसानों को भी बीज दे सकते हैं। इससे लागत में कमी आएगी।जर्मप्लाज्म में छिपी संभावनाएं : संस्थान में कपास की विभिन्न प्रजातियों का जर्मप्लाज्म संरक्षित है। आनुवंशिक संसाधनों के आधार पर भविष्य में अन्य रंगों के कपास पर भी प्रयोग संभव बताए गए हैं। यदि आवश्यक गुण जर्मप्लाज्म में उपलब्ध हों या म्यूटेशन तकनीक के माध्यम से विकसित किए जाएं, तो अनेक रंगों की किस्में सामने आ सकती हैं।टेक्सटाइल उद्योग में संभावित बदलाव : देश में कपास से धागा, धागे से कपड़ा और फिर रंगाई की लंबी प्रक्रिया अपनाई जाती है, जो समय और खर्च दोनों बढ़ाती है। यदि रंगीन कपास को प्राथमिकता दी गई तो यह प्रक्रिया सरल हो सकती है। इससे उत्पादन लागत घटेगी और उपभोक्ताओं को अपेक्षाकृत सस्ता कपड़ा मिल सकेगा।इसलिए रंगीन कपास की जरूरत : सफेद कपास से कपड़ा तैयार होने के बाद उसे रासायनिक रंगों से रंगना पड़ता है। इस प्रक्रिया में भारी मात्रा में पानी और रसायनों का उपयोग होता है, जिससे मिट्टी और जल स्रोत प्रदूषित होते हैं। डाइंग प्रक्रिया महंगी भी होती है। प्राकृतिक रंग वाले कपास से रंगाई की आवश्यकता कम हो सकती है, जिससे उद्योग का खर्च घटेगा और पर्यावरण को भी राहत मिलेगी। शोध अभी शुरुआती चरण में है, लेकिन संभावनाएं व्यापक हैं। फ़िलहाल हम हरे कपास को ज्यादा मजबूत और लंबा बनाने पर ध्यान दे रहें हैं। भूरे रंग के अभी हमारे पास 5-6 वेराइटी हैं। - डॉ. विजय वाघमारे, निदेशक, सीआईसीआर
