The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russia has blocked Meta's WhatsApp messaging service and suggested that people use MAX, a new state-backed platform, instead. RANCHI: The menace of wild elephant attacks continues in Jharkhand as six more people were trampled to death by a herd of elephants at Gondwar village under Churchu Block in Hazaribagh early in the morning on Friday. Suraj Ram, Savita Devi, Anurag Ram, and Sanjana Kumari belong to the same family. According to villagers the elephants are roaming in the area, posing a constant threat to their lives and property. Notably, a herd of elephants have been roaming in the area for a month. Confirming the incident, DFO Eastern Forest Division Vikas Kumar Ujjwal said that, considering the aggressiveness of the elephant herd, they have sought permission to tranquillise them.

According to ACB officials, Dherange had allegedly demanded ₹50,000 from a complainant for reinstating a cancelled licence. After the complainant approached the ACB office and registered a complaint, officials verified the allegations and laid a trap inside the Mantralaya building. The accused was caught red-handed while accepting ₹35,000 as part of the demanded bribe.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday said it is high time all states should rethink the constitution of the real estate regulatory authority (RERA) as the institution is doing nothing, except facilitating defaulting builders. The observations came from the bench, which permitted the Himachal Pradesh government to shift the office of RERA to the place of its choice. The high court had earlier stayed a June 2025 notification concerning the shifting of RERA office till further order. Later, in its order passed on December 30, 2025, the high court directed the continuance of the interim order. The top court stayed the high court’s December 30 direction.
