Arjun Jain’s journey from struggling with JEE to becoming an IIT Bombay professor highlights how setbacks can redirect, rather than define, a career. After declining an IIT-BHU seat in Petrochemical Engineering, Jain completed Computer Science at RV College of Engineering, pursued a PhD in Germany and conducted postdoctoral research at NYU. His work in computer vision and deep learning led to research, entrepreneurship and industry roles before he returned to IIT Bombay as faculty in 2016.

He failed JEE and turned down an IIT seat; years later, Arjun Jain became an IIT Bombay professor. It did not, however, end his interest in computer science or research. Years later, Jain returned to IIT Bombay, this time as a professor working in computer vision.After his first unsuccessful attempt, Jain could not afford another year of coaching in Kota. He enrolled in Computer Science and Engineering at RV College of Engineering in Bengaluru.The decision turned out to be important for his academic career. Instead, he completed his engineering degree and continued towards research.Jain later pursued a PhD in Computer Science at the University of Saarland.

Rewari police have arrested two individuals in connection with a recent murder case. The victim, Jitender, was found dead near the HPCL refinery on September 7.
