Speaking on Joy FM’s Top Story programme on April 21, Amaliba explained, “I totally disagree with the Attorney-General. He is [rather] increasingly becoming a danger to our justice delivery system. His conduct and comment and always coming to the defence of the judiciary will give the perception that the Executive and the Judiciary are ‘friends’ and it is rather more dangerous. This is the view of veteran journalist and pollster, Ben Ephson, who has joined calls for Mahama's 2020 running mate, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang to be dropped. According to Ephson, in an interview on Joy News, the former president must consider picking any of his political contenders for the flagbearership slot as his running mate. “Mahama would have to repackage himself because a Mahama with the same running mate is going to be difficult [to win 2024 general elections]. He may have to form an alliance or perhaps, pick one of the [NDC presidential contenders] as his running mate. The EIU report said the NDC has a higher prospect of winning the 2024 elections but that could elude them if former President John Dramani Mahama is maintained as flag bearer. Leadership will definitely change hands because the NDC is a strong party and not an individual. Portions of the EIU report read;“The next parliamentary and presidential elections are due in 2024. “The former president, John Mahama, is reportedly considering running again, but we expect the opposition NDC to try to revitalise its prospects with a fresh candidate.

The opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, cannot win the 2024 generals elections with John Dramani Mahama as their flagbearer, the Economist Intelligence Unit, EIU, has said. Mahama has led the NDC into two unsuccessful election campaigns in 2016 and 2020. According to EIU’s five-year forecast for Ghana released on April 13, 2022, the opposition party has a higher probability to be victorious in the next general elections. “Our baseline forecast is that ongoing public dissatisfaction with the slow pace of improvements in governance—such as infrastructure development, job creation and easing of corruption—will trigger anti-incumbency factors and push the electorate to seek a change," the EIU report stated. From the research findings, EIU indicated that “John Mahama, is reportedly considering running again,” adding that NDC should "try to revitalise its prospects with a fresh candidate.”The EIU has, in the past, predicted correctly the outcomes of Ghana’s elections in 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020.
