Opoku has appealed to the people of Assin North to vote for him for development and growth in the area. Opoku will lead the NPP in the upcoming by-election scheduled on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. The election process was calm and peaceful as delegates went through the process smoothly without agitations or chaos. The party’s internal election comes after Parliament declared the Assin North seat vacant following a supreme court ruling on the eligibility of the sitting Member of Parliament, James Gyakye Quayson to occupy the seat.

He made this statement when he visited the Assin North constituency to campaign ahead of the by-election slated for June 27, 2023. “I will fight for Assin North with my last breath. It is a vision for the whole Assin North community and its people. He continued to say that regardless of the disruption, he will still stand for the Assin North Constituency. “Whatever they do, I will stand for Assin North” he declared.

Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Lariba Zuweira Abudu, has said the cost per meal for each school child would be increased from GH¢1 to GH¢1.20. The GH¢1.20 proposal comes after caterers called on government to increase the feeding price per child. “The feeding cost per meal per day per child was increased from 80 pesewas (80Gp) in 2018 to GH¢1, and in 2023, the cost per meal per child per day has been proposed as GH¢1.20,” she said. Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, Lariba Zuweira Abudu noted that the school feeding programme has provided employment for people especially women. Meanwhile, school feeding caterers will be paid their arrears for the third term of the 2022 academic year this week, the minister stated.
