"On 23rd September, the President will attend a fundraising event for the National Cathedral." The national cathedral project is expected to generate US$83 million in economic tourism revenue within the first three to five years of completion, according to Dr. Paul Opoku-Mensah, chief executive of the project’s secretariat. The building of the Cathedral which is expected to be completed by March 2024 is in fulfilment of a pledge made by President Akufo-Addo in 2016. Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo will on September 22, 2021 address the UN General Assembly.

The initiative was announced by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the build-up to the 2020 elections. The government has now taken a giant step towards fulfilling the promise by acquiring hundreds of mini vehicles to start with the first phase of the 'Okada for Car' initiative. Okada riders interested in owning one of the vehicles will be registered and then hand over their motorbikes in exchange for the vehicle. Government sources have revealed only okada motorbikes that are registered with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) will be eligible to swap their motorbikes for the vehicle. The NPP's alternative, which promised a better and safer option for the young riders, was slammed by the NDC as a political talk and impossible to achieve.

The report noted a marked improvement in the submission of the quartely documents by some enterprises. Noting further that some SOEs had cleared backlogs of several years relative to unaudited financial statements. In 2016, only 18 entities complied with the law culminating in the maiden report, which was published in 2017.

The composition of the defaulting companies are: one State Owned Enterprises (SOEs), 34 Owned State Enterprises (OSEs) and 12 Joint Venture Companies. The report, however, discloses that out of 129 SOEs and OSEs, 14 of them complied with the requirement of section 93 of Act 921 to submit quarterly reports. The reports supposed to be submitted to the sector minister are in relation to their 2018 approved business plans. The quarterly report according to the law must contain principally, their outstanding debt and new borrowings as well as overdrafts and other figures relative to corporate debt securities issued.

Lawyer Gary Nimako avers that it is in the interest of Owusu Bempah and all his lieutenants and followers to remain grounded and not make any pronouncements especially in respect of the court case. Owusu Bempah was arrested a week ago at his church premises over an incident where he threatened a former fetish priestess, Nana Agradaa. Viral videos showed Owusu Bempah in a car with some aides bearing guns in front of the residence of Agradaa. Bempah along with three junior pastors are facing among others, charges relating to threat to harm and threat of death. The case of Owusu Bempah and his junior pastors return to the court on Monday, September 20 for a hearing on the substantive case.
