Tettey Eric Teye pleaded guilty when he appeared before the court presided by Mr. Frank Gbeddy, on the 17th of August this year. After the act, the suspect threatened the victim not to inform anyone of the act. The complainant was issued with a police medical form for examination, treatment, and report where a medical report signed by Dr. Samuel Attuah indicated that the victim's hymen had been broken. After investigation, the accused was charged with the offence of defilement contrary to section 101, ACT 29/60, and subsequently sentenced on his own plea.

Gyimah Kutin died in Queens, New York – the United States, on Saturday after a group of passengers he picked up attempted to rob him. The taxi driver, according to reports, smashed his head against the ground and was rendered unconscious. They have been slapped with charges including manslaughter, gang assault and theft of services. One male was charged with manslaughter, gang assault, assault, and theft of services, while the other male was charged with gang assault and theft of services,” the New York Police said in a Twitter post.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has elected Ali Adolf to succeed the immediate past chairman, the late Alhaji Mobila. The election was done barely 48 hours after the death of Chairman Alhaji Mobila whose demise was announced on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. The late chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress in the Northern Region, Alhaji Mobila was also the chief of Tugu Yapalsi until his passing. Alhaji Mobila is said to have died at age 84 on August 16, after a short illness at the Tamale Teaching Hospital. Dome -Kwabenya lawmaker, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has said the revocation of her appointment as Minister for Gender, Child and Social Protection, will afford her more time to concentrate on serving her constituents. This was contained in a letter to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo acknowledging receipt of his letter revoking her appointment as Gender Minister. “It was an honour to serve at this all-important ministry albeit for a short time,” the Dome Kwabenya MP added. Dr John Kwabena Kwakye, the Director of Research at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), has reiterated calls for the government to consider tweaking the flagship Free Senior High School, Free SHS, policy amid an economic downturn. “I don’t see why we can’t touch Free SHS . Policies that do not focus on human capacity development can be phased out,” Dr Kwakye said. The public sector needs to be downsized to be more productive so that we can remunerate them better,” Dr Kwakye added. He also touched on the need to reduce the size of government and aside from the Free SHS, consider reviewing some other flagship programmes.

The students, between the ages of 17 and 19, were reported to have chartered a taxi from Santansi to Golden Tulip around 11:30pm. When the driver got to Golden Tulip, they told him they were going to Rotary park so he should proceed to that destination. While on their way, one of the students removed a knife to attack the taxi driver from behind. During their struggle, the Taxi driver kept moving his car which led to a crash around Vienna City.
