CAIRO – 21 October 2022: People have been gathering to watch sunrays touching the face of the statue of Ramses II, the fourth pharaoh of the Egyptian Nineteenth Dynasty. Sun illuminates the face of Ramses II statue in Abu Simbel Temple in Aswan two times per year on 21 February and 21 October, marking the pharaoh’s birthday and the date when he ascended to the throne. The illumination ceremony dates back to more than three centuries when Ramses II was in power. The pharaoh, dubbed Ramses the Great, had a temple on the bank of the Nile which the sun aligns with during these dates. Photos were handed by Youm7 to Egypt Today ahead of the illumination.

CAIRO – 20 October 2022: Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli ordered extending ban on rice export to meet local market needs, affirming the importance of tightening control over crossing points. Madbouli met on Thursday with Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali El-Moselhi to follow up on the ministry’s efforts to provide rice in local markets. Prices of rice per kilogram have reached LE 10 in consumer complexes in light of the ministry’s efforts to secure rice to decrease its prices in local markets. Farmers have provided around 140,000 tons of rice so far since the beginning of the harvest season, which continues until December, Moselhi noted. Egypt also collected 4.2 million tons of local wheat from farmers during the past wheat supply season, which extended from April to August.

CAIRO - 19 October 2022: Chairman of the Egyptian Black Sand Company Magdy Tawil said the complex of black sand factories are of high economic value and investment attractive. He made the remarks on Wednesday in a speech on the inauguration of a complex of black sand factories in Kafr El Sheikh in the presence of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. He said an integrated feasibility study coded by major international mining companies was prepared for the project which aimed at establishing new industrial complexes. President Abdel Fattah El Sisi witnessed Wednesday the inauguration ceremony of the plants complex of the Egyptian Black Sand Company in Burullus city in Kafr el Sheikh governorate. The Black Sand plant in Kafr el Sheikh is the first of its kind in the world, with the most advanced mining equipment, said Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady.

CAIRO – 18 October 2022: The coronavirus pandemic situation in Egypt is fully under control as the country has been recording very few cases over the past period, Presidential Advisor for Health Affairs Awad Tag El-Din said on Tuesday. In TV remarks to Al-Hadath Al-Youm, Tag El-Din said the coronavirus cases in Egypt show mild symptoms that are similar to the symptoms of common cold.
