CAIRO – 21 October 2022: People have been gathering to watch sunrays touching the face of the statue of Ramses II, the fourth pharaoh of the Egyptian Nineteenth Dynasty. Sun illuminates the face of Ramses II statue in Abu Simbel Temple in Aswan two times per year on 21 February and 21 October, marking the pharaoh’s birthday and the date when he ascended to the throne. The illumination ceremony dates back to more than three centuries when Ramses II was in power. The pharaoh, dubbed Ramses the Great, had a temple on the bank of the Nile which the sun aligns with during these dates. Photos were handed by Youm7 to Egypt Today ahead of the illumination.

CAIRO – 20 October 2022: Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli ordered extending ban on rice export to meet local market needs, affirming the importance of tightening control over crossing points. Madbouli met on Thursday with Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali El-Moselhi to follow up on the ministry’s efforts to provide rice in local markets. Prices of rice per kilogram have reached LE 10 in consumer complexes in light of the ministry’s efforts to secure rice to decrease its prices in local markets. Farmers have provided around 140,000 tons of rice so far since the beginning of the harvest season, which continues until December, Moselhi noted. Egypt also collected 4.2 million tons of local wheat from farmers during the past wheat supply season, which extended from April to August.

The Media Center of the Egyptian Cabinet denied rumors claiming that the Ministry of Communications was launching an application for mobile phones to grant citizens financial loans. The Media Center communicated with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, which denied the news, stressing that it was baseless. The ministry has only the Digital Egypt platform, which is concerned with digital government services, and not granting loans, it said, warning citizens against using these applications, stressing that all legal measures will be taken against the promoters of these applications.

CAIRO - 19 October 2022: Chairman of the Egyptian Black Sand Company Magdy Tawil said the complex of black sand factories are of high economic value and investment attractive. He made the remarks on Wednesday in a speech on the inauguration of a complex of black sand factories in Kafr El Sheikh in the presence of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. He said an integrated feasibility study coded by major international mining companies was prepared for the project which aimed at establishing new industrial complexes. President Abdel Fattah El Sisi witnessed Wednesday the inauguration ceremony of the plants complex of the Egyptian Black Sand Company in Burullus city in Kafr el Sheikh governorate. The Black Sand plant in Kafr el Sheikh is the first of its kind in the world, with the most advanced mining equipment, said Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady.

These activities include tourism programmes for the delegations participating in the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (COP27), which Egypt will host in Sharm El-Sheikh next November. Tourism programmes for the COP27 participants come amid a national strategy by the cabinet to connect all economic sectors to the environmental targets, particularly as Egypt the current host of the climate summit. In a press statement, the minister explained that the tourism programmes will be conducted in famous Egyptian tourist destinations, such as the cities of Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, Luxor, Aswan and others. Issa pointed out that the desired goal of this strategy is to increase the number of incoming tourism to Egyptian tourist destinations by 25% to 30% annually. Tourists would also be able to enjoy the different tourist patterns and products that the Egyptian tourist destination offers, including beach and recreational tourism, cultural tourism, family and adventure tourism, and other diverse tourism products.

He explained that his project has found approval from the Ministry of Environment, since it was implemented in 2015. CAIRO – 18 October 2022: The coronavirus pandemic situation in Egypt is fully under control as the country has been recording very few cases over the past period, Presidential Advisor for Health Affairs Awad Tag El-Din said on Tuesday. In TV remarks to Al-Hadath Al-Youm, Tag El-Din said the coronavirus cases in Egypt show mild symptoms that are similar to the symptoms of common cold. On the other side, Tag El-Din affirmed the need to continue coronavirus vaccination in Egypt as the possibility of new waves cannot be ruled out. Last month, Tag El-Din noted that COVID-19 deaths in Egypt reached zero and that the pandemic situation in the country has become very reassuring. Amid a drop in COVID-19 cases, Egypt has eased numerous domestic coronavirus-related restrictions imposed since March 2020.

Egypt - Maridive Maritime and Petroleum Services has revealed that it received an offer to acquire 100% of its subsidiary Valtin Marine from Ancla Marina Ship. The company’s losses decreased by 50% during the first half (1H) of this year, recording $16m in losses, compared to $32.27m in 1H 2021, taking into account minority rights. The company’s revenues also fell to $46.33m, compared to $67.19m. The celebrations will include the launch of an exhibition titled "The Library of Alexandria in Twenty Years - Revival", in addition to the screening of an animated film produced by the BA, entitled "Tia in the Library of Alexandria", and a concert performed by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Orchestra, in the presence of public figures, senior officials, intellectuals and thinkers. The Bibliotheca Alexandrina’s building will also be illuminated at night to celebrate the twenty-year anniversary of its establishment.
