CAIRO – 19 December 2022: Egypt will participate in the second Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership on Tuesday in Jordan, according to the Jordanian news agency Petra. The conference is held to confirm support to the Iraqi security and sovereignty in a way that contributes to the development process in the region. In a speech during the conference, Sisi called for putting an end to the foreign interference in the affairs of the countries in the region. President Sisi also affirmed Egypt’s full support for Iraq, within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism with Jordan. However, the Arab country still faces multiple challenges, including security and economic challenges as well as challenges related to the reconstruction file.

CAIRO - 19 December 2022: The National Marine Dredging Company announced the awarding of a dredging project in the Suez Canal to "marine dredging" in Egypt. The company stated, in a disclosure to the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, that the value of the contract amounts to one billion dirhams, and it is expected to complete the work during 2023. Yasser Zaghloul, CEO of the National Marine Dredging Group, said earlier that the company's investments amount to more than 800 million dirhams. Zaghloul pointed out that the value of project contracts that the group is currently working on amounts to about 25 billion dirhams, over the coming years.

Egypt’s national team was crowned the 2022 WSF Women’s World Team Squash Champion after defeating the American team 2-0 in the final match to achieve the title for the fifth time in its history. CAIRO - 19 December 2022: Egypt's law regarding procedures for confronting epidemics and health pandemics stipulates that those who promote rumors related to the epidemiological situation shall be punished. The law stipulates the punishment without prejudice to the provisions of Article 29 of the Press and Media Regulation Law and the Supreme Council for Media Regulation promulgated by Law No. 180 of 2018, and with any harsher penalty stipulated in any other law. A penalty of imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year and a fine not exceeding ten thousand pounds, or one of these two penalties, shall be imposed on whoever incites the violation of any of the measures stipulated in the decision of the Prime Minister issued in accordance with the text of Article (1) of this law or the decisions issued by the committee in implementation of this decision. Anyone who deliberately broadcasts, publishes, or promotes false or malicious news, data, or rumors related to the epidemiological situation, and this would disturb public peace, create panic among citizens, or harm the public interest, shall also be punished with the penalty prescribed in the previous paragraph.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in his nightly address on Sunday said electricity had been restored to a total of 9 million Ukrainians, as the country recovers from a barrage of Russian attacks that hit on Friday. “Another 3 million Ukrainians have had their energy supply restored,” Zelensky said. Zelensky had already said that 6 million people had power restored on Saturday following another Russian missile attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Zelensky said the return of power was “already a result for 9 million of our people.”In most of Ukraine’s cities transport operations have returned to normal, he added.

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry had a phone call on Saturday with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov. CAIRO – 18 December 2022: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry received Saturday a phone call from his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov tackling "all aspects of bilateral relations, including the joint economic projects executed by Russia in Egypt." The ministers discussed the overall status of bilateral relations between Egypt and Russia as well as regional affairs. President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received in July Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov at Al Itihadiyah Presidential Palace to discuss bilateral relations and issues of mutual concern. Minister Lavrov informed President Sisi with the latest developments of the Ukrainian crisis and relevant Russian moves on the international scale. The meeting was attended by Lavrov's deputy, Russian ambassador to Cairo, Egyptian minister of foreign affairs, and deputy head of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry.

CAIRO – 18 December 2022: The Arabic language is one of the pillars of the cultural diversity of humanity. Arabic speakers are distributed on the Arab region and other neighboring countries, such as Turkey, Chad, Mali, Senegal, and Eritrea, as Arabic is of paramount importance to Muslims as a sacred language (the language of the Qur’an). Prayers (and other acts of worship) in Islam are not complete unless some of the Arabic words are mastered. The Arabic language allows entry to a world full of diversity in all its forms and manifestations, including the diversity of origins, stripes and beliefs. Accordingly, it was decided to celebrate the Arabic language on December 18, being the day on which General Assembly Resolution 3190 of December 18,1973 was passed, concerned with the inclusion of the Arabic language among the official and working languages of the United Nations.

Osama Askar, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, inspected on Saturday the project of reclamation and cultivation in Toshka. Askar listened to a detailed explanation that included the latest status of the project according to the performance rates and time plans of the project to achieve the desired results from that agricultural patch added to Egypt’s agricultural area. This was followed by passing through several areas of the project, which aims to create integrated agricultural communities working with the latest science in the field of agricultural reclamation to support the state’s efforts in the field of food security, and achieving the agricultural boom that contributes to self-sufficiency in various agricultural crops. During the inspection tour, Askar praised the efforts exerted by all workers of the project, stressing the importance of taking advantage of all available potentials and capabilities to maximize the benefits of that agricultural patch.
