As snow squalls continue to blanket southwestern Ontario, school boards in the London region announced the closure of all schools Thursday morning, and police are reporting closures and collisions across the area roads. Environment Canada warned snow would continue throughout the day, with a yellow warning in effect for snow squalls that began on Wednesday and were forecast to continue into Thursday evening. A number of those collisions closed significant parts of the 400 series highways through southwestern Ontario. With school cancelled, many young families took advantage of the weather by spending the day playing in the snow and sledding.

Last year marked a turning point in Toronto's housing market, as prices started to trend down again following a pandemic-induced boost. But there was no sign of tariff relief on Chinese electric vehicles or Canadian canola from either country on the first full day of Carney’s trip. A Sapotaweyak Cree Nation mother says her 16-year-old daughter has "a long way to recovery" after suffering broken bones when a school bus crashed along an icy stretch of rural Manitoba highway on Tuesday. RCMP said preliminary details suggest the bus driver lost control while trying to pass another bus. Christa Copapay said her daughter Kylee has "got a long way to recovery" after breaking two vertebrae during the crash. He said he is "open to the conversation" around whether seatbelts should be required on school buses in future. A union leader who represents Ford workers in Windsor — where F-150 engines are made — takes issue with those comments. During an appearance at a Michigan Ford plant, Trump said the U.S. doesn't need Canadian cars. Just across the border in Windsor, Ont., Ford workers make engines that power Ford F-150 trucks, along with Super Duty models and the Mustang. During his appearance at the plant, Trump also called the Canada-United States-Mexico trade pact "irrelevant."
