's energy regulator has shot down a proposed natural gas pipeline project in the Okanagan. Utilities Commission (BCUC) has rejected an application from FortisBC to build a natural gas pipeline worth $327 million in the Okanagan region. 's main natural gas utility, and argued they wouldn't be able to keep up with demand without the pipeline expansion. The intervener argued that those plans would likely lessen natural gas demand in those areas in the years to come. It has directed Fortis to examine other short-term solutions for anticipated natural gas demand and file a mitigation plan by the end of July 2024.

Increased focus on the Arctic and North Atlantic will be amongst Copenhagen’s priorities when it takes over chairmanship of the Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO) from Sweden on January 1, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. “The Baltic Sea region, Arctic and the North Atlantic will be geographical areas of particular importance in 2024,” a ministry spokesperson told Eye on the Arctic in emailed comment on Friday. “Our ambition is to maintain the region as a region of low tension as we face new and special challenges in the North Atlantic and the Arctic region,” the ministry spokesperson said. “This is important for strategic lines of communication and supply, as well as for capabilities and operational cooperation. With Finland’s accession to NATO and Sweden’s future membership, Copenhagen says NORDEFCO’s work has more importance than ever.

Much about the season remains the same as it was when my brother and sister and I were growing up. This all followed weeks of our tearing through the toy section of that year’s Sears Wish Book, circling what we wanted Santa to bring and squabbling over who got what. I watched the procedure then ran off to get into some kind of my own trouble. We just don’t know how to party like that anymore, but I really wish we did.
