In a time of unprecedented electricity generation amid a record-breaking summer heatwave, the relentless surge in demand has outstripped available supply, making uninterrupted power provision next to impossible. However, disruptions in the electricity imported from India pushed load shedding over 3,000 MW for several hours on Monday. Regarding the power situation, he told bdnews24.com, "It's quite good. In extended areas of Mohammadpur like Nabinagar, Satmasjid Housing, and Chand Uddyan, load shedding lasts two to three hours. "Generally, our area didn't face load shedding, but adjusting to this frequent disruption over the past week has been difficult."

General Daily Insight for May 02, 2024 Inspiration could come to us today, but figuring out what to do with it might require actual effort. When the inquisitive Aquarius Moon squares brilliant Uranus and expansive Jupiter, big ideas may flow a mile a minute. However, slow-moving Pluto turns retrograde at 1:46 pm EDT, reminding us that change typically doesn’t happen overnight. Taurus April 20 – May 20 A straightforward path to progress is presently unlikely. Sagittarius November 22 – December 21 Something you said in the past might come back to haunt you at any moment.

For me, the encampment feels like utopia in that it reminds us of the possibility of a better world. Within the encampment I’ve tried to pay close attention to those limitations: escaping, for a moment, the crushing weight of the neoliberal university can only solve so much. My job description (reflection of the whole University in the pages of The Sun) will necessarily include voices against the encampment — sometimes strongly so. What does it mean when we act on the realization that our institutions need us more than we need them? This upcoming week, from May 1 to May 7, Cornell will celebrate its annual Israel Week, run by Cornell Hillel. There has never been a more critical time for Israel Week. Thursday will continue Israel week with a “shuk” (Hebrew/Arabic for “market”) on the Arts/Agriculture Quad. It seems appropriate for Israel Week to lead into Yom Hashoah, as the Holocaust and Israel will forever be intrinsically connected. A week of remembrance for both the Holocaust and Oct. 7, of fun and celebration, of culture, community and learning, Israel Week promises to have it all.

Most of the action in college volleyball recruiting comes in a flurry during the summer, especially at a top program like Nebraska. Manaia Ogbechie, a 6-foot-3 middle blocker from Santa Rosa Valley, California, committed to Nebraska on Monday, and announced it Wednesday. The late commit comes in part because Ogbechie was previously committed to Northwestern, which has since had a coaching change. “The culture of growth that Nebraska has, that’s exactly what I was looking for,” Ogbechie said. In a conference hardly recognizable after realignment, Nebraska now knows its opponents and locations for the 2024-25 season. The Huskers will face Iowa, Ohio State and Maryland twice apiece, once at Pinnacle Bank Arena and once on the road. It will play Michigan State, Northwestern, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue, Wisconsin and Washington on the road. This will be the first time in over a year Nebraska has traveled for games against Michigan State, Purdue, Penn State, Oregon or Washington. Loyola Chicago, Charleston, Charlotte, Hawaii and Oregon State — who Nebraska defeated in a neutral-site game last November — will also compete.

The Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology or BUET has decided to resume postponed term final exams on May 11 after discussions with students who boycotted the tests for the restoration of a ban on politics. Prof Al Amin also said the university will appeal against a High Court order that stayed a ban on political activities on the campus. The university postponed the examinations amid a boycott on Apr 20. The demonstrators said they would return to academic activities if the authorities file an appeal challenging the High Court order staying the ban. Following a writ petition by the BCL activist, the High Court suspended the ban and asked why it should not be lifted permanently.
