The decision was taken at a Full Court meeting of the judges of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court, chaired by Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury. According to a press release signed by Supreme Court Public Relations Officer Md Shafiqul Islam, the meeting was held yesterday at 4:00 pm at the Judges' Lounge of the Supreme Court with the participation of High Court Division judges. The meeting decided that the civil vacation of subordinate courts would be observed in two phases instead of a continuous one-month break. At the meeting, the Chief Justice briefed the judges on the activities and progress of the Supreme Court Secretariat. The press release further said that once construction is completed, the Supreme Court Secretariat will operate from the second, third and fourth floors of the Supreme Court Record Building.

The 15-member EU delegation met the Jamaat Ameer at the party's central office at 11:00 am this morning. The EU delegation assured that a 200-member European Union observation team would be deployed to observe Bangladesh's forthcoming national parliamentary election. They expressed optimism that the momentum of bilateral relations, development and progress between Bangladesh and the European Union would continue in the future.

Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury attended a views exchange meeting with local administration officials, police, and other law enforcement agencies in Faridpur. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has warned that strict action will be taken against election officials and law enforcement personnel if any irregularities occur at polling stations during the 13th national election, including ballot box snatching or fake voting. Chowdhury said body-worn cameras, CCTV, and drones are being used to ensure transparency, alongside the Election Security App developed by the National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC). The app will be activated once presiding officers and Ansar members depart for polling stations with election materials, he added. Chowdhury further directed that reserve law enforcement forces be kept ready from dawn on election day until vote counting and result publication are completed.

DHAKA, Feb 10, 2026 (BSS) - A mild earthquake was felt in Dhaka and its adjacent areas today. The tremor occurred at 5:32 pm, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD). The earthquake was of mild intensity, said the met office. The tremor, recorded at 5:32:32 pm, had its epicenter in Gowainghat, Sylhet. The epicenter was located 214 kilometers northeast of the BMD Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre in Agargaon, Dhaka.

During a search, the forest guards recovered about 150 kilograms of parshefish fry from the trawler and detained 10 fishermen. In a separate operation on Monday afternoon, forest guards detained 15 morefishermen with 250 kilograms of parshe fish fry in the Kokilmoni area of theSundarbans.

However, he admitted that the "real work" lay in initiating deeper policy reforms, particularly in the policy divisions.
