Three members of a family suffered burn injuries in an explosion apparently from gas line leak at a house in Kachua upazila of Chandpur district on Wednesday. The injured were identified as Khadiza, 30, Mahmudul, 35 and Sheuli Akter, 40 of the upazila, reports UNB. The explosion occurred around 8:30am at the house, leaving three people injured. Later, they were taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka. Among the injured, Khadiza received 35 percent burn injuries while Mahmudul and Sheuli received 4 percent and 2 percent burn injuries, respectively, said resident medical officer of National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery Dr Shaon Bin Rahman.

Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizen Party and opposition chief whip, has demanded the impeachment and arrest of President Mohammed Shahabuddin. Nahid made the demand after visiting the graves of the victims of the Pilkhana massacre at Banani Military Graveyard on Wednesday afternoon. A senior bank official has died at a drug rehabilitation centre in Bogra, with his family alleging he was beaten to death. The incident occurred on Tuesday night at ‘Mayer Ashroy Drug Addiction Rehabilitation Centre’ in Sabgram of Sadar Upazila, according to Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Mostafa Monjur. He said a staff member of the centre has been taken into police custody for questioning. He added that a staff member of the rehabilitation centre, identified only as Humayun, has been taken into custody for questioning. He had taken Shuvo to the hospital and was detained from there.

Six members of a family were killed and three others injured when unidentified armed men attacked a house in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province on Wednesday, police said. The attack occurred in Buleda tehsil of Kech district, where the assailants opened indiscriminate fire and also fired a mortar round at the house, police sources said. The victims included women and children, reports UNB. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital, and some of them were reported to be in critical condition. He described the incident as an attack on innocent civilians and said law enforcement agencies had been mobilized to arrest those responsible and bring them to justice.

Melvin Trotter, 65, was convicted of the 1986 murder of Virgie Langford, 70, during a robbery of her store in Palmetto, Florida. There have been three previous executions in the United States this year, one in Florida, one in Oklahoma and one in Texas. There were 47 executions in the United States last year, the most since 2009, when 52 inmates were put to death. CAIRO, Feb 25, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - Egypt said Wednesday that 18 of itscitizens were still missing after a migrant boat capsized, killing fourpeople, off the Greek island of Crete last week. The wooden boat was carrying 50 people, including four minors, when Greece'scoast guard was alerted late Friday. According to Greek public broadcaster ERT, an accident occurred when thecommercial vessel approached the migrants' boat. As the passengers tried to climb up ladders into the rescue vessel, a suddenmovement caused the wooden boat to capsize. Twenty migrants were rescued by the commercial vessel, according to the Greekauthorities, leaving several people still unaccounted for.
