A suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden car into a Pakistani military convoy on Saturday in a town near the Afghan border, killing at least 13 soldiers, the army said. The convoy was attacked in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan district, the army said in a statement. Fourteen militants were killed by the army in an operation launched after the attack in the region, it said. However, Mamun Kabir Tarafdar, deputy director of Benapole Land Port, said while passport passenger services remain normal, import-export activities through Benapole Port have been suspended since Saturday morning due to a protest by customs officials. Indian trucks delivering goods during this period will still be allowed to return to India after unloading at the port, he added. Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (Caab) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan has been transferred to the Armed Forces Division. The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification regarding his removal today (26 June). Monjur Kabir was appointed as the chairman of Caab on 18 August. According to the notification signed by Joint Secretary Abul Hayat Md Rafique, Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan has been withdrawn and reassigned to the Armed Forces Division as per order of the president. Previously, he served as an Air Captain at Zahurul Haque Air Force Base in Chattogram.
