Heavy rains and flooding ravaged parts of Kenya on Friday, sweeping away homes and livestock and destroying roads and electric transmission lines, authorities said. At least two people were killed and at least one was missing. One of the victims died after a house collapsed under heavy rains in the coastal city of Mombasa, police said, while the second was swept away by floods in Meru County in central Kenya. In Mombasa, heavy rains caused flash floods, which swept away homes and businesses. Dramatic footage also emerged Thursday of a wildlife conservancy chopper crew rescuing eight people who were in a truck that was being swept away by raging floodwaters in Samburu county.

However, this does not mean that the pathway to strategic interdependence would be devoid of challenges. Russia expels Bulgarian correspondent after Sofia kicks out Russian journalistRussia has stripped a Bulgarian Moscow correspondent of his accreditation, expelling him from the country. Angel Grigorov from Bulgarian National Radio has been ordered to leave Moscow. Morocco will host nine matches this current November, as part of the opening rounds of the African qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Nine of these qualifiers will be played in Morocco. The same day, Guinea will face Uganda at the Municipal Stadium in Berkane. The Grand Stadium of Marrakech will host the match between Niger and Tanzania on Nov. 18, while El Jaish Stadium in Oujda will be the playground for the match between Chad and Madagascar on Nov. 20. Mauritania will carry out a head count of its population, the fifth in its history, before the end of year, to gather data needed to prepare, implement, monitor, and evaluate the various development policies, the country’s National Agency for Statistics and Demographic and Economic Analysis has announced. Mohamed Mokhtar Ould Sidi, head of the agency, told the national committee for the census, the head count is carried out as part of the implementation of United Nations recommendations that member states organize a general population and housing census every ten years. Ould Sidi said the census will provide the data needed to prepare, implement, monitor, and evaluate the various development policies. The country currently has a population of 4.7 million people according to 2022 data by the World Bank. The latest census took place in 2013.
