Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) assistant coach Simon Katich hailed captain Dinesh Karthik’s influence on the team as they steady themselves for the second Indian Premier League (IPL 2018) Qualifier against Rajasthan Royals at Eden Gardens on Wednesday. Under Karthik’s leadership KKR have won their last three matches to storm into the playoffs and are favourites before the key clash, given their form. Karthik assumed captaincy after much deliberation after long-standing KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir was let go by KKR at the auction earlier this year. “I think from his point of view, his batting has been outstanding, he’s been at the top of his game and he’s been magnificent. So, from that point of view we’ve been very lucky,” Katich said.
