'Jungle Jabbah' Found Guilty of Immigration Fraud and Perjury

PHILADELPHI, USA - A 12-member jury has convicted Mohammed Jabateh, an ex-ULIMO rebel commander of all four counts of immigration fraud and perjury for which he was facing trial. Jabateh was accused of lying on his asylum application in the United States and hiding the brutality he imposed on villagers during the 1990s civil war. The verdict came after the jury took just a few hours to consider the case laid out in a 2 week trial that featured 20 witnesses flown in from Liberia to testify about Jabateh’s role as Jungle Jabbah in the first Liberian civil war. Jabateh will now be detained until a sentence is determined, possibly as much as months from now. Family members and lawyers are expected to speak outside the court shortly.
