Four Mississauga schools placed on hold-and-secure for threat investigation

Four schools in Mississauga have been placed on hold-and-secure due to an ongoing investigation in the area of Thomas St. and Fountain Park Ave., Friday morning. The schools impacted by the hold are Stephen Lewis Secondary School, Churchill Meadows Public School, St. Faustina Elementary School and St. Joan of Arc Catholic Secondary School, all in the city’s Erin Mills neighbourhood. A hold-and-secure is a less severe response to a threat than a lockdown. During a hold-and-secure, school activities continue as normal, but all outer doors are locked and no one is allowed in or out the building as a precautionary measure. Earlier, a total of eight schools in Brampton were also placed on hold-and-secure due to an investigation of a suspicious male in the area of Meltwater Cres.
