The front-page advertisements appeared in English and Kannada newspapers in the form of an eight-column strip right under the masthead. "Rapes, Murders & Lawlessness, An Insensitive Karnataka Government," read the text, which appeared alongside photographs of Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and chief ministerial candidate B.S. Senior BJP politician G. Madhusudhan said: "We are not politicising rapes in Karnataka; we are only narrating the facts to the people." These advertisements are just a reflection of how the BJP spins strange theories to woo voters," she said. "These advertisements mean nothing: all that matters is what they (the BJP) do while in power."
