Cops linked to self-confessed serial killer Masten Wanjala's escape charged


Three police officers who were on duty when confessed serial killer Masten Wanjala escaped have been charged before a Nairobi court. The three Phillip Mbithi, Boniface Mutuma and Precious Mwinzi denied two counts of aiding a prisoner to escape prison and neglect of official duty. It is alleged that on the night of October 12 and 13 at Jogoo road police station within Nairobi county jointly aided Wanjala to escape from lawful custody at Jogoo Road Police station. They also denied willfully neglecting to prevent the escape of Wanjala, a murder suspect, a duty they were dutifully bound to perform under the National Police Service Act. The three were released last week on Sh100,000 cash bail and have been reporting to the Investigating Officer.
