New Zealand wrestling great John da Silva has died, aged 86. A heavyweight, da Silva represented New Zealand at the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne and 1958 British Empire Games in Cardiff. Stuff John da Silva became a household name in New Zealand in the 1970s when he starred in On The Mat. Stuff John da Silva was a hugely popular wrestler in New Zealand and overseas. A multiple New Zealand heavyweight boxing champion, Garth also represented New Zealand at the Olympics and Commonwealth Games.
