It aims to successfully implement the JETP Declaration in combination with promoting the development of renewable energy, and the economical and efficient use of energy, contributing to realising net zero greenhouse gas emission targets by 2050; developing the energy industry with synchronous and smart infrastructure on the basis of ensuring national energy security and development goals, and ensuring fairness in energy transition. It also covers the reception and effective use of support from international partners in technology transfer, governance, human resource training and financial provision for the implementation of the declaration, contributing to implementing Việt Nam’s national energy development strategy and the Global Coal to Clean Power Transition statement. From now to 2030, the plan states that it is necessary to build and perfect the legal framework to facilitate the attraction of investors, businesses and people to engage in the just energy transition process and promote technology transfer. Relevant units will develop a resource mobilisation plan to implement the JETP Declaration, and carry out pilot projects related to just energy transition; while at the same time implementing the resource mobilisation plan with international financial support and technology transfer to promote the conversion of coal-fired power and fossil energy to clean energy, and develop renewable and new energy forms (green hydrogen, green ammonia).

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s industrial production this month continued a more positive trend, with the index of industrial production (IIP) estimated to rise by 2.9 per cent over the previous month and 2.6 per cent over the same period last year, the General Statistics Office (GSO) reported. Compared to the same period last year, the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 3.5 per cent; electricity production and distribution increased by 3.7 per cent; and water supply, management and treatment of waste and wastewater increased by 1.8 per cent, while the mining industry decreased by 6.2 per cent. However, due to the difficult situation of the world economy in the first months of 2023 that affected the results of domestic industrial production, IIP in the first eight months of 2023 decreased by 0.4 per cent compared to the same period last year when IIP increased by 9.2 per cent. In which, the processing and manufacturing industry decreased by 0.6 per cent; the electricity production and distribution increased by 1.7 per cent; water supply industry, the waste and wastewater management and treatment activities increased by 4.8 per cent; and the mining industry decreased by 2.5 per cent. According to the GSO’s report, 49 cities and provinces had an IIP growth in the first eight months increase while 14 other cities and provinces reported an IIP drop.

The city Department of Taxation has urged local tax departments to step up efforts to recover these tax debts and disclose information about businesses with significant and long-standing tax debts. For tax debts exceeding 90 days, stricter enforcement measures will be implemented to recover these outstanding amounts, according to the department.
