WASHINGTON (AP) — A Pentagon contractor was indicted Thursday on charges that he illegally removed and shared classified national defense information with a journalist, a case that has drawn national attention after federal agents searched a reporter’s home as part of the investigation. Aurelio Luis Perez-Lugones was charged with five counts of unlawfully transmitting and one count of unlawfully retaining classified national defense information, the Justice Department said Thursday. The case, which has been linked to last week’s search of Washington Post reporter Hannah Natanson’s home in Virginia, has drawn scrutiny from press freedom advocates who say it reflects a more aggressive posture by the Justice Department toward leak investigations involving journalists. The reporter co-wrote and contributed to at least five articles that contained classified information provided by Perez-Lugones, authorities said. On Wednesday, the Washington Post asked for a court order requiring authorities to return electronic devices that they seized from reporter Natanson’s home last week.

But with China, he often sounds oddly deferential — because Beijing possesses tools that could impose real costs on the United States. The United States has been the world’s dominant power for close to a century. Trump crowed more at Davos about winning World War II than did the man who actually did the winning. The United States had “won” the Cold War, and Bush could have crowed. The United States already has a base there, and it can expand its capabilities easily through cooperation rather than coercion.

I’m surprised Microsoft can access customers’ encryption keys in their M365 accounts. Isn’t this a security concern and against the zero-trust principle? Has anyone heard about this before? It seems unlikely that business customers want this, which might explain EU caution. Password managers don’t access user accounts; why would Microsoft need to?

Since then, I’ve read all of Austen’s works, rekindled my love for George Eliot, and even dipped my usually non-sci-fi-loving toe into the arid deserts of Dune. Since trying it out, I’ve gone from reading maybe a book a month to five (massive) books this month so far, with my sixth on my coffee table as I write. Unsurprisingly, for readers, that just means giving up on a book you don’t like rather than ploughing on with a novel you hate. For some reason, like not finishing my plate, I always found “DNF” to be a source of shame. If I’m not having fun, I’m not reading that book”.

Keir Starmer has urged Donald Trump to apologise over his Nato remarks APKeir Starmer has urged Donald Trump to apologise over his “frankly appalling” remarks about Nato troops in Afghanistan. The US president insulted Nato allies this week by saying the defence alliance has never come to America’s aid. But the president later claimed that Nato troops had actually “stayed a little back, a little off the frontlines” during the 20-year war. “But is it because of that relationship that we fought alongside the Americans for our values in Afghanistan. “The United States is the only Nato partner who can protect Greenland, and the president is advancing Nato interests in doing so.”

LOADING ERROR LOADINGPresident Donald Trump on Thursday claimed the U.S. should have triggered NATO’s mutual defense clause to advance his domestic agenda on immigration after provoking outrage with his comments that NATO troops “stayed off the frontlines” in Afghanistan. NATO troops fought in Afghanistan alongside U.S. soldiers against al Qaeda and the Taliban. AdvertisementEarlier on Thursday, in an interview with Fox Business’ Maria Bartiromo, Trump questioned the sacrifice of NATO troops, claiming they stayed off the frontline. And that’s really the ultimate test,” Trump said. You know, they’ll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan or this or that, and they did.

Tim Walz “retarded.” “Yeah, I think there’s something wrong with him.” We’re hearing more of that word lately. So Elon Musk has used “retarded,” and you see an awful lot of it on X these days. And it’s one of the great culture victories.” During my adulthood, and I don’t think I’m alone, the word has been considered taboo. And we had to gently teach her that that word is no longer used. And so, to understand why it became so loaded, we have to understand that it was part of a process.
