Shows that play on the app will be available for free on Amazon’s Prime Video service even if a viewer does not pay for a subscription. Freevee originals, including the documentary-style comedy series “Jury Duty” and drama “Bosch: Legacy” are also available on Prime Video. While Amazon is doing away with Freevee, the model of free ad-supported streaming services remains promising as consumers look to limit discretionary spending, experts said.

CNN —Legendary musician, composer and producer Quincy Jones died from pancreatic cancer, according to his death certificate. The document, a copy of which was obtained by CNN on Wednesday, listed no other contributing factors to Jones’ death but noted that he had been living with cancer for years. Jones died on November 3 at the age of 91. A renowned jazz and pop musician, Jones was also a prolific cross-genre arranger, conductor, record label executive and civil rights advocate. Days after his death, his daughter Rashida Jones paid tribute to him on social media.

The district’s $120 million Black Student Achievement Plan had a clear goal: lifting the academic performance of Black students, who trail behind other groups in assessments of reading and math, providing students extra tutors, and added training for their teachers. With broad support from LA Unified’s board, teachers and families, the program deployed counselors and social workers at roughly 50 schools, which together enrolled more about a third of the district’s Black students. And this year, the district’s Black students made gains on math and reading tests that outpaced those of other student groups. The district’s Black students also this year outscored Black students around the state on the annual exams.

Americans are continuing to pile on debt at record levels — but for many households, those IOUs are completely manageable, according to new data released Wednesday. Balances grew across all major debt categories, with credit cards and auto loans continuing to see the biggest gains. However, by and large, most households have been able to handle that rising debt: Their after-tax income has grown even more, according to the New York Fed. Disposable personal income hit $21.8 trillion in the third quarter, bringing the total debt balance to income ratio to 82%. And, for 18 months running, that pay growth has outpaced inflation, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data released Wednesday.
