Home Depot reported lower fourth-quarter profit as economic uncertainty, high interest rates and a stagnant housing market continue to weigh on home improvement activity. - jeenah moon/ReutersHome Depot reported lower fiscal fourth-quarter profit as economic uncertainty, high interest rates and a stagnant housing market continue to weigh on home-improvement activity. “We continue to see pressure from consumer uncertainty and frozen housing conditions, said Chief Financial Officer Richard McPhail in an interview. It was one blunder after another for the Atlanta Falcons special teams unit in 2025. That’s what watching this special teams unit felt like for me. The AcesWhen you constantly rob from future drafts, you have to make a flurry of free agent signings to fill special teams holes, and that’s what Fontenot did in 2025 with signings like Mike Ford, Feleipe Franks, Teagan Quitoriano, and Jordan Fuller. Ian Cunningham will have to find a way to balance positional depth with special teams impact, something Terry Fontenot completely missed the mark on in 2025. The new staff did not retain Marquice Williams, and the Falcons hired two special teams coaches with experience running their own units, but both have had tenures riddled with failure.

With peace negotiations backed by President Trump stalled, Russia has sought to portray its victory in Ukraine as inevitable. At the same time, long-range strikes by Ukraine, Western sanctions and ship seizures are pushing down prices for Russian oil that are critical for Moscow to sustain its military efforts. “That’s the big breakthrough in a war that his military is unable to win,” Jones said of Putin. Russian military bloggers claimed a large-scale counteroffensive, but Ukraine’s military has since described the advances as tactical assaults. Soldiers said they took advantage of Russian communications problems after Elon Musk’s SpaceX disabled Starlink for the Russian military in Ukraine.

Over the next five days, the Americans flipped their Winter Games from a potential bust into its best-ever showing. That haul was still an entire Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo behind the mighty Norwegians , whose 18 golds shattered the Winter Games record they set four years ago. Meanwhile, a few kilometers away, another American took the ice to skate for gold in the signature event of the Winter Games. It was no coincidence that the gold medals that changed an entire team’s fortunes last Thursday went to women. As the men’s hockey team won its first gold medal since 1980, the U.S. said arrivederci to the Games with the one thing that could unite America in 2026: beating Canada.

In March, the US intelligence community assessed that Iran was “not building a nuclear weapon.”In June, the Trump administration nevertheless launched airstrikes targeting Iran’s nuclear program. It had found the strikes did not destroy the core components of Iran’s nuclear program and likely only set it back by months. A sampling:“It knocked out their entire potential nuclear capacity.” (July 16)“It’s been obliterated.” (July 31)“We obliterated … the future nuclear capability of Iran.” (August 18)“But I also obliterated Iran’s nuclear hopes, by totally annihilating their enriched uranium.” (September 20)“Well, they don’t have a nuclear program. It was obliterated.” (October 13)“… completely obliterated Iran’s nuclear capability.” (November 11)“It was called Iran and its nuclear capability, and we obliterated that very quickly and strongly and powerfully.” (November 19)“We obliterated their nuclear capability.” (December 11)“We knocked out the Iran nuclear threat, and it was obliterated.” (January 8)“… obliterated Iran’s nuclear enrichment capability.” (January 20)“… achieving total obliteration of the Iran nuclear potential capability — totally obliterated.” (February 13)So to recap: Trump has claimed to have obliterated Iran’s nuclear “capacity,” “capability,” “future … capability,” “potential capability,” “hopes,” “threat” and “enrichment capability.” And as recently as four months ago, he said Iran didn’t even have a nuclear program to speak of. Indeed, Trump was critical of the CNN and Times reports that Iran’s nuclear program was only set back months.

Gavin Newsom on Monday sharply criticized “fake MAGA-manufactured outrage” over his comments about his low SAT score in Atlanta Sunday during his national book tour. “Spare me your fake fucking outrage, Sean.”Gardon pointed out that Newsom was speaking to a mixed-race audience during the conversation with Dickens. “Come on, I’m a 960 SAT guy, governor of the fourth largest economy in the world,” Newsom told The Times. “I’m a guy, you know, with sweaty hands as described in the book, you know, who can’t read a speech, and I’m governor. I’m talking to you.
