Some people and situations may not warrant forgiveness, and it’s crucial for our mental health to recognize when that’s the case. Forgiveness has to be built on a foundation of basic humanity,” Boykin said on this week’s episode, drawing her line in the sand. “If we’re talking about people who have done things, have said things or that uphold systems that dehumanize you, I don’t believe that you have any moral obligation to forgive them. In a situation like with the formerly homophobic uncle, “I think it’s a good time to consider forgiveness, you know? We also discussed what a sincere apology looks and sounds like, how forgiving yourself can bring beautiful things into your life, and much more.

LOADING ERROR LOADINGPresident-elect Donald Trump is considering an executive order once he’s in office to stall a law that would force the sale or closure of TikTok, The Washington Post reported Wednesday night. The report adds new intrigue to the TikTok saga after Congress passed bipartisan legislation last April to force the sale of the app, which is owned by a Chinese company called ByteDance. Lawmakers worry users’ data could be accessed by the Chinese government and many have called the app a threat to national security. It’s unclear how an executive order would circumvent a ban, set to go into effect on Jan. 19, a day before Trump’s inauguration. The Supreme Court is also considering a challenge to the law after TikTok argued concerns about the app are overblown and violate the First Amendment.

To be clear, I very much understand why people are choosing not to engage with those who are politically different from them. Political decisions can be deeply personal and have very real consequences, particularly for marginalized groups. At the same time, though, “agreeing to disagree” with no further communication isn’t going to repair the damage. He asked great questions, shared some really meaningful personal experiences and had some valuable insights that I took home with me. He gave me an opportunity to engage in conversations that I hadn’t been having as often as I should.

All three have developed a warmer relationship with Trump as he prepares to return to the White House. More recently, Amazon dialed back its diversity initiatives in an apparent effort to curry favor with Trump, who has spoken out against such policies. Despite his decision to quit as CEO of the tech company, Bezos still serves as Amazon’s executive chairman.

AdvertisementWhile this is in no way a one-size-fits-all solution, experts believe that encouraging better resilience in children and young people would help equip those with low-level mental health problems with improved coping skills. As psychotherapist and trauma specialist Tina Chummun explains: “While promoting resilience alone won’t resolve the wider children’s mental health crisis, it can play a significant role in equipping children with tools to navigate challenges more effectively.”The hope is that services would then be freed up to help those with more severe mental health problems or those who are in crisis. Advertisement“Because a child’s resilience rests on their caregiver’s resilience – and caregiver resilience rests on the depth and support of their relationships,” she told Good Morning America. Help your child find solutions insteadExperts support the strategy of allowing children to face age-appropriate challenges and supporting them in finding solutions rather than immediately intervening. “School-based mental health promotion programs can universally enhance children’s resilience,” says Chummun.

While the pain of IUD insertion can vary widely from person to person, I have spoken to many other women who have had the same experience. So why, at the end of a yearslong probe, did special counsel Jack Smith ultimately forgo charging Donald Trump with inciting one? In her 2023 ruling, Wallace said she was convinced Trump had “engaged” in insurrection, based on the harrowing evidence and testimony she’d considered. AdvertisementDisqualification hung on a persnickety distinction: Section III, or the insurrection clause, did not actually consider whether the president of the United States was considered an “officer” of the United States, Wallace found. To succeed in trying Trump for inciting an insurrection, they would have to prove subjective intent showing that Trump meant to cause the full range of violence that day. Before even touching the question of whether Trump incited an insurrection, prosecutors at minimum needed guidance on exactly what proof is required to establish that an insurrection took place, and how to distinguish an insurrection from a riot.

Graham Norton on the set of his BBC talk show BBC/So Television/PA Media/Isabel InfantesThere are a few things Graham Norton’s BBC talk show has become synonymous with in the last 18 years – namely its eclectic mix of guests on the sofa, the host’s (often cutting) opening monologues, unpredictable audience interactions and, of course, the “big red chair”. AdvertisementBut what might surprise you to hear is that the “big red chair” was never intended to be a permanent fixture. In fact, Graham told Seth Meyers during a recent episode of his US talk show that the whole thing “happened by accident”. AdvertisementThe “big red chair” segment was actually intended as a one-off for when Ronnie Corbett was a guest during the fifth season back in 2009 (the late comedian was known for sharing anecdotes and jokes from his own armchair as part of the Two Ronnies sketch show). “A couple of weeks later we got a call from our line producer going, ‘you know that chair you had built?
