The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) has announced the continuation of implementation works on the New South Tripoli Gas Power Plant project, as part of its strategic plan to enhance electricity generation capacity and ensure the stability of the national power grid. The project is designed to produce 1,320 megawatts of electricity. The power plant is being equipped with generation units manufactured by the German company Siemens, while the Turkish energy company Galik is responsible for the execution and installation works, in line with approved schedules and required technical standards. According to the company, this project forms part of ongoing efforts to develop Libya’s energy infrastructure and improve the efficiency of the power generation system, with the aim of meeting the growing demand for electricity and enhancing the quality of services provided to citizens.
