It’s not a uniform in the traditional sense, like a blazer, tie and pleated kilt. Recently, she told me one of her friends suggested she wear something different for a change. I explained to my daughter that wearing the same thing, or variations on the same look, is called uniform dressing. Von Furstenberg wanted to create something that could be worn anywhere, didn’t wrinkle and made it easy to get dressed — a uniform. For my daughter, the main selling point of her uniform is simple, and universal: She feels comfortable in it.
